I believe it to be you who is given to unfounded assumption. You assume that Leach was fired "just because", when it seems clear from any objective reading of the evidence available that Leach operated outside the parameters of the AD guidelines (either express or implied) and treated a player suffering from a traumatic brain injury in an untoward way.
What is indisputable is that Leach was fired. Universities don't make it a habit of firing winning coaches unless the coach's conduct compels them to do so. Treating a player suffering from a injury-type that is on everyone's radar screen, in a reflexively punitive way, would be a compelling reason to fire him. That's not an assumption, that's a reasonable conclusion based on the facts.
What so "eye opening"? Was the movant's application for TRO granted? If not, it's just a litany of allegations from a disgruntle employee, about their employer, in advance of what I'm sure will be a more robust filing; Nothing eye opening about it.
Referring to Coach Leach as a “fat ass” makes you sound very intelligent and unbiased. Is being overwieght a good enough reason by itself to fire somebody in your opinion or must there be other factors involved? I believe Leach was treated very poorly by the “leadership” (I use the term loosely) of TTU. Leach got fired after a one or two day “investigation” a day or two before he was due a pile of money according to his new contract. I think the reason he was fired when he was is transparent and has nothing to do with how he treated the player. It does not appear that he was treated fairly to me. This matter was handled in a manner that was meant to not just fire him, but to destroy his reputation. The way this was handled by the Chancellor is shameful in my opinion and I hope he suffers consequences for his weasel like actions.
You have obviously not read all the “evidence available” or you wouldn’t make such a claim.
Your last paragraph is redundant. Duh - we’re all quite aware that Leach was fired. From the evidence that continues to trickle out, many of us believe that Leach was unjustly fired. We will soon see who prevails, but based on the facts that many of us have researched thus far, the money is on Leach prevailing.
Myers, is that you?
It amazes me that so many people buy into the smear campaign Texas Tech administrators have brought upon Mike Leach. This is just like politics and those of us who have followed the bad blood between the AD & Leach are not at all surprised.
Like Sarah Palin, Mike Leach has always ‘Gone Rogue’ and marched to his own drum, but he has NEVER been anything but protective of his players.
It amazes me also. I think Leach is a good coach, TTU was lucky to have him and they have made a huge mistake firing him. I liked seeing TTU do well these last few years in the Big 12. I don’t think they will do well without Coach Leach.
Did you see this???
This reminds me of when George Patton slapped the coward in WWII. Patton is punished when the wimp is praised.
Sorry lawnguy, I meant to reply to olddeckhand and replied to the post above his.
No problem, I think you have a great point!
TT leading 10-7 in the Concussion Bowl. Quite a bit of cautious conversation on this subject and shots of James on the sideline.
Methinks they had the option to sign one of two papers: this affidavit or their resignation...
Yep. Can’t believe some of Ruff’s comments after the game. Wow. They should hire Lincoln Riley as HC- he called the game. BTW, there’s a Team Leach group on FB.
I’m not sure why you think the program doesn’t have a protocol for dealing with head injuries based on this one faker? We had a very serious concussion dealt with this year in our quarterback - he wasn’t whining about his treatment. There were probably others who had mild or serious concussions we were not even aware of - just saying that because baby girl James whines means Tech didn’t have some protocol is just speculation and playing into the hands of the espn whiners
Where did you see this little gem? That is not what they asked him to sign, and this was NOT the first concussion this team has dealt with - they are not new at this.
I’m surprised that the University of Miami isn’t talking to Leach as we speak.
Booing at James on the sidelines - he was in jeans and his jersey and a stocking cap - talking on his cell phone. Yeah, right in the middle of the damn game - princess that he is, talking on his phone.
He got boos and I would imagine heard more than a few comments directed his way. We weren't near the field so it wasn't possible to hear. There were some chants directed toward him though.
I am shocked by some of the comments by players - tells me they were not tough enough to handle discipline though - not sure how that will play out in the future.
Rintinse - your team came close to beating us! A few key plays were all that made the difference - it was exciting to watch - and your band was such fun! I loved how the drum line came out of the stands and grouped in front of your fans often!!! They were right across from us so your small but enthusiastic crowd sounded very loud to us!!!
I would have enjoyed the game more had they not showed the James girl on TV all the time.
