"I'd Like to Get To Know You" was done by Spanky and our Gang.
Ooops my bad... Spanky-Dusty, same same right ? (j/k)
I think “You Dont Have To Say You Love Me” pegs her. It is a great tune.
She was a little before my time, Twink. But I vaguely remember some of her classic tunes.
I thought you meant Spanky and Alfalfa.
I remember that tune.
I think Spanky McFarlane went on to replace Mama Cass in the Mamas and the Papas after Elliott died??
Check out this video, kind of weird and moody:

She was before my time too, fellow child of the 80s (and 70s) :) But we usually had music on in the house or car and I remember hearing some of her songs throughout childhood, teen years, etc.
I clicked on a few of the links in this thread...enjoying listening to some of the songs I remember and those I never heard before now.
“Something In Your Eyes” - a duet she sang with Richard Carpenter.
She did the main vocals and Richard Carpenter did back-up vocals. Carpeneter originally wrote the son for his sister Karen but to the best of my knowledge, she never recorded it.
There should be a nice video on YouTube as well.
I had to look that up on the imdb, as I don't remember Sting singing at all; but yes, you're right. The standout song for me is Nina Simone's Sinnerman.

She's holding hands with Gene Pitney at the very beginning of the clip. Amazing.
From what I hear, Richard Carenter is one of the nicest people in showbiz.
A nice tune, vaguely remembered and a good choice to replace his sister on this piece.
Recorded 4 years after Karen’s death.

Who is Dusty Springfield? Never heard of him/her?
Cool. Very much before my time.
Neat to see the kids back then in the vid.
They're a pretty cool looking bunch, arent' they?
A woman, 60s singer. A little before my time. Don’t know if you’d call it blue-eyed soul for girls? Can’t think of a name for her genre. Petula Clark and Nancy Sinatra would have been her contemporaries.
Anyway, I didn’t know what the big deal was, so I thought I’d ask? Glad I did. People who love her stuff, REALLY love her stuff!
Lots of great tunes; mainstream, b-level and multiple covers. Check the links.
Pretty hip.
They’re grannies and pop-pops now!
Don’t remember that from the movie, but, yeah, that is pretty catchy.
What a bizarre and fun thread! Dusty Springfield, The Pet Shop Boys, The Bay City Rollers, Sting, Bread and the Carpenters.
We only need a Pierce Brosnan link singing an Abba song to bring this thread full circle.
Close between The Look Of Love and A Brand New Me. I like just about every song I ever heard her sing. Anyone ever notice the similarity between Dusty’s voice and Colin Blunstone original lead singer of the Zombies?
