Still say that there were probably other risk factors at play in this case.
There are ALWAYS some "other risk factors" at play. Some people's genes make them susceptible for infection. HPV infection (a quarter of the sexually active population at any given time) or other STDs. Smokers have a higher risk. Most of all, high viral load (during primary infection or due to a progression to AIDS) is the no. 1 risk factor in transmitting the disease. During the first weeks of infection the viral load is so immensely high that it's much more dangerous sticking your tool in there (i.e. having insertive intercourse) than to have receptive intercourse with someone who's under medication.
That's also one of the reasons for the HIV pandemic in Africa, because in some countries everybody (men and women, often married) has half a dozen concurrent sexual affairs, which leads to a domino effect. One gets it, passes it on during the primary infection, next one passes it on to the next while his or her viral load is high and so forth. In Western countries one mostly has only one extramarital affair at once [/sarcasm].
