Manual could run and win for Mayor in Philly just now.
PROUD PHILLY PHAN here, born 1980, the year of champions!
BRING ‘EM ON
Yanks or Angels
Phillies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had to work tonight so I heard the game on ESPN Radio
(Dan Schulman & Dave “Soup” Campbell; Jon Miller and
Joe Morgan do the AL) but I have watched TBS coverage at times...Craig Sager and his loud ties (commentary). Who did you get, Dick Stockton and Chip Caray? Chip of course of the famed family...Stockton did the famous ‘75 Fisk homer in the WS (”if it stays fair...home run!”) I’d have to see
more to judge—well, actually there’s no more TBS
coverage now; Yanks-Angels and WS is on Fox.
In the first round, Angels-Red Sox, Red Sox (NESN) announcer Don Orsillo was featured. but yeah I have heard of people turned off by the TBS—and Fox—announcers and putting a local or national radio broadcast on instead.
Oh: Congrats to the Phillies—Cheesesteaks and champagne!
A good yr for Pennsylvania: Steelers Super Bowl,
Penguins Stanley Cup, and Phils win the NL at least
Thanks!
a bit of humor here: as I understand it, Yaz used to own a Ford dealership in Lynn, MA (I do remember it)...at one time there was still some travel via train and whenever the Sox
players would see a junkyard with old cars they’d joke,
“Hey look—Yaz Ford!”
Boston DJ Jess Cain, who passed away recently and was elected to the radio hall of fame posthumously, did the song
“Carl Yazstremski! The man they call Yaz”. It’s featured
in the movie Fever Pitch.
And after that, their luck ran out, as it must.
And eventually they made some mistakes, which the Yankees were ready for.
Now, however with Girardi juggling pitchers, the drama is high.
The trash talk on this thread is bullshit. I think it's also bullshit that the starter of this thread -- a week ago -- named in such a way that the mods could any other thread a duplicate and delete it.
If I cared enough, I'd flag every juvenile, idiotic "i hate the yankees" post.
Game tied.
just oy. a contest of errors.
just as well, at this point. Now we have to deal with Joba.
But deal, we will.
Wow, Girardi is no Billy Martin, or Bobby V for that matter, he’s a poor game manager.
He plays all his cards early, relies too much on stats, pulls pitchers who are getting outs, I could go on.
After the 6 run rally, I, along with I”m sure a couple million people thought the next logical step was.
Joba 7th
Hughes 8th
Mariano 9th
Why was Joba warming up if not to come in in the 7th????
Burnett is hit and miss, you don’t want him back out there with the pressure on again tonight. He was out there with the pressure on starting the game and coughed up 4 runs ,he was LUCKY it was only 4 runs.
He gets it together, GREAT, LONG top of the 7th, GET HIM OUT, let him feel confident.
You had what you WISHED FOR. A 2 run lead with your bullpen ready!!
Clueless Joe, I haven’t seen this bad of game management in a long time.
Now he’s got Mariano out there with us down by a run, GEEZ, LOUISE.
Joe Girardi is confused and choking and switching guys roles, overmanaging, panicked thinking, I can’t believe what he’s been doing.
He’s VERY LUCKY he got away with his managerial errors in the other game, depleting his bench and bullpen. He needs to consult with the EXPERIENCED COACHES in the dugout with him, not his “book”.
Nice error by FOX.
Showed who’s coming up and listed:
Alex Rodriguez 2-3 2 HR
I guess I missed his 2 home runs tonight.
We'll take a walk tie.
prettist girsl are in pinstripes, as always. cmon, nicky.
what a game.
And for those of you in Rio Linda, be sure to post the "Yankees Lose," cause apparently they don't get that it follows from the Angels winning.
Yankees 3-0
Angels 1-3
Girardi 0-1
Let me correct myself.
Girardi blew BOTH games the Yankees lost.
He’s pulling guys who are getting outs in the last game.
Bullpen primed in this game, he leaves AJ out there and lets not one, but TWO runners to get on before pulling him.
I’ve never seen a manager choke so bad, Joe is confused.
Joe’s done well this season. Maybe a tad green compared to Sciocia. But not a slouch and with a deeper team. He’s done OK with Mo when push comes to shove.
Not this SERIES he hasn’t. The Yankees were down to one pitcher and one bench player in Game 2, he got BAILED OUT in that game - big time.
Game 3, he’s yanking pitchers who are getting outs, using all his chips in an extra inning game. He kept putting pitchers in until he found one who gave up the game, awful.
Tonight he lets Burnett out there after sitting for a half an hour. Why are you WARMING UP Joba if he’s not going in???
He’s been Captain Hook, but all of a sudden he lets Burnett give up not one but TWO baserunners. I wouldn’t have killed him as bad if he pulled Burnett after ONE baserunner, but he’s not even consistent in what he’s doing.
The guy has been bumbling and all over the place, it’s really bad. I’m not a reactionary fan who second guesses everything, this has just been a really bad job of managing, even when he won. I’m not alone in that assessment by a long shot, my cousins have been saying the same thing (huge Yank fans), Joe is choking.
Scioscia made a rare mistake today, pulling Lackey too early.
Glad Girardi’s not managing the Angels. ;-)
