Apple news is is one of the benefits of FR to me just as shadow ace posts about the latest pc virus updates are to that group but this thread did not belong in Breaking News as you state...

They can post all the Apple news they wish as long as they are actually news stories and not advertisements for Apple products. Advertisements do sometimes slip by, but our official policy is to pull them. Free Republic is a non-commercial political forum. No advertising, no soliciting, no sales pitches, no spam. Just pure 100% USDA unapproved political beef.

FR is a real lifeline. We can find people here to vent with when we know that the MSM, far from being a partner in a conversation, aspires to censor us (see McCain-Feingold for an example of an assault sponsored by monopoly AP journalism on our First Amendment freedoms).

Even tho we might be able to find people to talk computers with on other sites, here we feel among friends - and, after all, we do all use computers to connect to FR. So it's natural to want to be able to talk about mutual interests which are not directly political, with people who are comfortable FRiends.

But we have to know that it is ultimately JimRob's site, and FR will be moderated (edited) according to his standards and for the audience he wants to attract.

Anyone who troubled to examine "find in forum" on me would quickly realize that I spend a lot of time on this site, and can readily imagine that I would hate to lose any FRiend I have here, and I would hate to lose the interesting discussions of technology generally and of Apple products in particular. In the immortal words of a famous American, "Can't we all just get along?"

Oh yeah, 27” ... the only problem I have with that is, I could buy the 24” inch now, at long last, at a nicely reduced price... but later would be wishing I’d got the 27”... :’) Thanks rmlew for that link.

Still no price drop.

Apple usually keeps the same price point and increases the specs.

You have to get a pro to get a machine with any kind of decent power.

The big iMac has a 2.8 GHz (boost to 3.4 Ghz) quad-core Core i7 with 1066 DDR3, which is in the upper ranges of what's available these days, more than what most people need, and faster than other all-in-one systems. They can't go to the very highest specs due to the cooling constraints of an all-in-one.

the little macbooks can’t play games.

Good, they're not designed for it. Still, the 9400M it has will run the average game decently on its small screen. If you want to play Crysis then get the gamer system it was designed for.

And yet if it had been some other computer company perhaps releasing some half hacked iupgrade to an old operating system you probably would be out there dancing in the streets

You have no idea what you are talking about, so please don't put any actions into my repertoire. Read again, I am an Apple FAN, but not a fanBOI. Google the term. I dont think ANY computer news of this sort is worth "Breaking".

Why are you even bothering to post this? I think you are making a bit more of a simple post than is really warranted.

And please lose the “fanboi” trope. Frankly you ought to be deeply embarrassed.

The thread was misposted as "Breaking News". Even the Moderators agreed.
