Agree with your sundry points. But I still enjoy seeing the Yankees lose. No longer are they the team of Gehrig. Nor are the Orioles the team of Brooks. Sad, really.

The short term purpose of radio may be to just keep you tuned in to hear the commercials, but if the entertainment supply is not fed, soon the supply becomes watered down and poor quality. Oh, that explains the recording industry...

As a long time Washington Senators fan, I say GO ANGELS!!! It will be especially sweet if I can tweak all the Red Sox fans here in New England...shame the Rangers crashed and blew the WC; Rangers/Angels would have been fun.

No doubt. Radio does not help. In the case of Rock, you have the Alternative Rock format, the Active Rock format, the Mainstream Rock format. Active Rock does not like to play anything that doesn’t sound exactly like everything else on the station. Radio is important (or can be) for sales (even if they aren’t mentioning the names of the acts as often as people might like). If a rock band sounds too different from what’s currently on Active Rock Radio, record companies will think twice about signing that band, because they know that it would be difficult to get their band on the radio. So, they sign bands that sound exactly like what’s on the radio now, because they know that it will be easy to get on the radio.

Well if the Rangers had been the WC they would have played the Yankees. WC team can’t play a team in its own division in the first round. That why the Red Sox are playing the Angels instead of the Yankees in this first round. I took a peak at the Boston Globe today and I geuss Curt Shilling had a blog where he said before the series began that these umps are bad. Especialy the 1st base ump in game 1 and that same ump was behind the plate for game 2. Maybe the Red Sox can pull out game 3 but I cant see them winning this series.

I knew that...Yankees wouldn't have been a problem in the first round. :-)

And as a result we end up with the current batch of sound alike garbage, and rather than improve product or increase demand, the recording industry accuses everyone of illegal downloading. That might be simply because none of their material is worth a wooden nickel.

If you check out your favorite team online the details of TV coverage are there - plus the ability to watch gameday without paying for any extra programs.

Go Angels!!

yes...on nights like those in October that I remember way back in the 50’s, and 60’s, then 77 (who can forget Bucky ‘effin’ Dents HR) and 78....then again in 96, 98, 99 and 2000, I slept like a baby sans milk...I even slept like a baby in 2003 when Boston was knocked out by Aaron ‘effing’ Boone...and it didnt matter that the Yanks didn't win the WS that year....that WAS the WS.

so fear not friend...I sleep well.

CLASS

the St. Louis fans, at the beginning of the in the 3rd game (going on now) give a STANDING OVATION to Matt Holliday who, in the 2nd game, dropped a sinking line when the ball smacked him into the gut and dropped to the grass — and the Cardinals never recovered in that game....NOW THATS CLASS

NO CLASS

Manny “Manny being Manny’ Ramirez...in the 3rd game (going on now) of the series between the Dodgers and the St Louis at St Louis, sees the home plate umpire hit hard in the chest and throat, in obvious pain and whooops it up in the dugout, thinking it is a wonderful, comedic, occurrence....

Manny is a no class turd...and Torre needs to reign this animal in.

The sport of baseball has been ruined. It was enjoyable when it was still a game, but it has become impossible to remain a fan in recent years. I should not have to track down games on TV.

St. Louie’s fans are the classiest. Their ballplayers get the best treatment in the majors. Baltimore was that good once upon a time, back before that infernal practice of shouting “o” during the Star Spangled Banner.

There certainly is tons of sound alike garbage, and most major label stuff does suck. I’d say it’s radios fault more than the major labels fault. If the majors need radio to sell the product, and the radio needs sound alike crap, the majors provide sound alike crap for the radio to play.

The majors aren’t blameless - they have a tendency to spend too much on songwriters, producers, etc., swinging for a home run every time.
