Not much taxing if everyone is growing thier own.

Require all growers (commercial & private) to buy a tax stamp with the fee proportional to the anticipated quantity grown ($100/Kilo???). That way the State gets their cut up front and can control the quantities under cultivation.

GtG

My interest isn’t in taverns of a single era or of a single western nation, it is in thousands of years of western civilization’s culture and that is thoroughly alcohol based not Ganja based but some cultures are of course, just not western nations.

The War on Marijuana (current spelling) started in 1937 by the Leftist Democrat FDR and the Leftist Democrat House (333 dems / 89 reps in the house at the beginning of 1937) and the Leftist Democrat Senate (75 dems / 17 reps in the sentate at the beginning of 1937).

People started going to jail in 1937, that very same year, when the Leftist President and the Leftist Congress passed the anti-marijuana law.

I know this is a difficult fact for you to absorb, that anti-marijuana federal jail time was started by the Leftists in 1937.

People have been going to jail for marijuana under every President, Leftist or Conservative, ever since.

You are choosing to ignore this simple basic controlling fact, because you would like to think that your position is the conservative one, when in fact the Leftists started throwing people in jail for marijuana in 1937.

Here’s a link to a local newspaper in 1937
http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=3xMaAAAAIBAJ&sjid=TyEEAAAAIBAJ&pg=1528,840208&dq=marihuana
Or, perhaps the “Bend Bulletin” is a Leftist Newspaper
Headline “MARIHUANA UNDER FEDERAL BAN NOW”
November 17, 1937

The Marihuana Tax Act (actual title, as opposed to your dishonest and imaginary title) imposed a tax on marijuana, just like you and the leftist article want.

Here's what it actually said:

SEC. 2. (a) Every person who imports, manufactures, produces, compounds, sells, deals in, dispenses, prescribes, administers, or gives away marihuana shall ( 1 ) within fifteen days after the effective date of this Act, or (2) before engaging after the expiration of such fifteen-day period in any of the above mentioned activities, and (3) thereafter, on or before July 1 of each year, pay the following special taxes respectively:

(1) Importers, manufacturers, and compounders of marihuana, $24 per year. (2) Producers of marihuana (except those included within subdivision (4) of this subsection), $1 per year, or fraction thereof, during which they engage in such activity.

(3) Physicians, dentists, veterinary surgeons, and other practitioners who distribute, dispense, give away, administer, or prescribe marihuana to patients upon whom they in the course of their professional practice are in attendance, $1 per year or fraction thereof during which they engage in any of such activities.

Federal law criminalizing possession occurred under Richard Nixon and was enhanced under Ronald Reagan, in the facing of yowling opposition from leftists such as yourself.

And people went to Leavenworth prison for violation of that Act in 1937. Fact.

Face it, the War on Marijuana (yes, of course, dimwit, it’s not the name of the 1937 act) was started by Leftists.

You support it.

That, I just figured out, makes you a Leftist yourself.

Wow, I thought you were a RINO. But the War on Marijuana was clearly started by the Leftist Democrats in 1937.

People went to Leavenworth for violating the Leftist 1937 act.

Anyone who supports that Leftist policy of throwing people in jail for buying or selling Marijuana is a Leftist. You support it, that makes you the leftist.

Wow, it has taken a long time for your true Leftist colors to be revealed. (Leftists, by the way, do not answer your questions directly, and pretend that your definitive, crushing arguments simply do not exist)

Because you are just completely oblivious to the plain fact that the 1937 act caused buyers and sellers of marijuana to go to the federal pen, and that the 1937 act was passed entirely by the Leftists, preferring to throw irrelevancies out there, you are arguing exactly like a Leftist.

Just as they would go to jail for violating the new marijuana taxes you and Willie are promoting.

Face it, the War on Marijuana (yes, of course, dimwit, it’s not the name of the 1937 act)

Yep. It's a dishonest title you invented and were busted for.

was started by Leftists.

Just like the tax you and Willie are now promoting.

You support it.

Backwards. I OPPOSE the taxation of legalized pot to support your leftist agenda; then, now and in the future.

Anyone who supports that Leftist policy of throwing people in jail for buying or selling Marijuana is a Leftist.

Ronald Reagan versus Willie Brown and you.

It is still against federal law. Wouldn’t that make any state law moot?

>Your faith in Willie Brown is fascinating.

You are personalizing the debate by making Willie Brown, rather than the inevitable legalization of marijuna, the subject of isolation and ridicule.

This childish, petty Alinsky tactic fails because Willie Brown is widely regarded, even by freepers, as a political genius.

The guy is a leftist, and he’s ethically slicker in some ways than Bubba ever was, but he’s an astute politician. When he says Palin’s a force to be reckoned with, trust me on this, folks, that’s high praise.

He's the only source quoted in the article. How did ya manage to miss that?

rather than the inevitable legalization of marijuna

Inevitable because the article claims that "a well known, and outspoken leader from the left" says so? That's pretty underwhelming, even for you left wing dope advocates.

Willie Brown is widely regarded, even by freepers, as a political genius.

Why am I not surprised?

(this is to Mr. Blonde, not to Mojave, so Mojave, don’t comment on it. Thanks)

I know. But there’s a part of me that says keep going. I’m actually more against the Drug War now than I was a day ago.

1) I’m realizing that the defenders of the drug war (at least in one case) don’t really have precise, nuanced arguments.

2) A day ago, I held that the defenders of the drug war could legitimately consider themselves conservative in some respects. Looking more closely at it, the history, I’m seeing that the Leftists really did start throwing drug users in jail, and not the Conservatives, as the anti-pot “Conservatives” would have one believe. It’s always the Big Government Leftists who are telling us what to ingest, whether it’s Drugs, Alcohol, Tobacco, Transfats, Soda or anything else they don’t like.

You left out comparing him unfavorably to Willie Brown. Maybe it was the dope talking.
