Maybe my tinfoil hat needs adjustment, but I can’t help wondering if this wasn’t orchestrated by Obama and West. By calling West a “jackass” Obama portrays himself as a fairminded person who is willing to slam someone of his own race. This will help his image as viewed by those in the mushy middle. It will detract from the claims that he is a racist.

Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I think this “candid” moment was staged. Come on! Obama new 90%+ of American’s thought Kanye was a jerk. This “slip” was risk free, and the feigned anger at the media for releasing it is staged as well. Truth be told, Obama and Rev. Wright are probably part of the 10% that thought that Kanye was justified putting “whitey” in her place.

Scary that the President of the US knows about this, much less would comment on a MTV show.
God help us.

That was my thought too. He wanted this out. And it was an easy one—who doesn’t think Kanye is a jacka** as this point? He probably had the word jacka** polled—it just beat out “bully” (being a little more edgy and hip).

This is the best press Obama is getting these days. It makes him look hip enough to know who Kanye is and smart enough to know the guy is a tool. For the first time, I saw him as a person and not a politician. Getting real, so to speak. Why would he want to go off the record for that? That's what doesn't seem right. If the guy is a jackass and all the world (right and left) knows it, why try to be PC?

I agree.
It also fills up the MSM/SCM with this tabloid stuff instead of more relevant topics.

Yep, calculated to make him look like a regular guy. Aimed at the center and center-right. Trying to staunch defections from the middle. The left couldn’t care less so it doesn’t hurt him there. Big Media is so complicit in promoting and defending this Marxist dork they probably sat down and planned it with him.
