I honestly don’t think they care about these bears (or insert whatever dangerous predator of choice). They think they are helping them but they are only creating a dangerous dependency on humans that will not end well and mostly for the bears. The truth is, this is about the individual’s ego.

The truth is, this is about the individuals ego. I think you're right in most cases and for a few it's like the lady in CO, dementia starts setting in and they go over the edge.
