I ran over a cat the other night. It was an accident. I’m sorry, I wish I could have prevented it. The cat ran out of nowhere in front of my car, out of the darkness.
It was near an apartment complex. No way was I going to go knocking door to door to try and find the owner.
I
Aw, how sad. May Doc rest in peace...
Cats are dumb.
bttt
If I do and they have tags, I call. If they don't I move them off to the side of the road, if possible. If they are in misery, I relieve them of that.
Democrats get an ambulance call, but that's about it.
you can haz alibi?
RIP Doctor.
I’ve run over several in my lifetime. I’ve never stopped. I don’t fully understand why I would.
Honestly, I don’t understand AT ALL why I would.
As long as it was not a cross-eyed cat who drooled, it probably wasn't the same one.
I don't blame you for not knocking on apartment doors looking for the owner, but you could have pinned a note to it.
Only the dead cats are dumb.
Poor baby. :-(

See post 5.
Maybe an old, slow cat shouldn’t be left out at night to wander across the middle of a dark road and get hit by a car.
I don't let my precious kitties run around outside, so I'm not worried.
And check their ID so you can file a claim against them for the damage to your car.
I ran over a cat a few years ago. The cat didn’t pass in front of the car, but darted under the car and was hit by my back wheels. I didn’t even know I had hit it until I looked in my rear view mirror. I did go back and tell the family.
However, cats nor dogs should be roaming around, IMHO. We have laws in our city that forbid letting your cat, or dog, roam free. So somebody swerves to avoid an animal and hits another car...how safe is that.
The owner must take some responsibility. In our neighborhood if your cat is left outdoors, it could end up as a coyote’s meal.
