Its sad, really. MacFarlane does have some talent.
Unfortunately, it seems he usually lets his ego get in the way. Family Guy had the potential to be amazing, but it’s creator keeps it mediocre. If it weren’t on before/after the Simpsons, I don’t think it would even get the viewership it does.
didn’t they say they made an epsiode where Lois gets an abortion?
It used to be really funny, now hit or miss mostly miss.
Giggety...
2nd time for Rush. He was on the Star Wars spoof episode.

It’s a hilarious show even if liberal. Though there often is a tenuous plot, I like it for all the references to other shows, etc.
“He had Stewie dressed as a NAZI and it happened to have a McCain-Palin button on the lapel.”
That was just in keeping with the spirit of “Change!” that was sweeping Hollywood last year, doncha know.
“At least MacFarlane is giving the right some equal time,”
No, he’s really not.
I guess those manatees who write the show are Republicans ... or they just like chubby guys ...
It was canceled and then brought back due to popularity on DVD. I don’t think the lead-in explains its success.
I don't remember Limbaugh or Rove (or any other conservative for that matter) ever guesting on "Boston Legal", "ER", or some of the other notoriously liberal programs. And, as others have pointed out, this isn't Limbaugh's first spot on Family Guy. I doubt, as smart as Limbaugh and Rove both are, either would be involved in something that could be used entirely against them.
I applaud MacFarlane for acknowledging what other shows refuse to, that they are liberal in the extreme. Plus, like SouthPark, Family Guy isn't afraid to poke fun at some of these celebutard causes de jour.
You should see the DVD extras. McFarlane states he hates Republicans on camera so I just take this with a grain of salt. Of course, he’s got some really good eps but most of the time it has jumped the shark.
Their other show “American Dad” already had Karl Rove as a character who the dad hires to fix the son’s school election.
Knowing Seth, we are getting setup for a major joke on the Right.
He won’t hold any punches, or even pretend to be Right of center for a second, the only reason why he is doing this is because it would be suicidal for them to make any good Obama jokes.
(oh, and that Conservative comedian/comedy writer are quite lacking and usually part of some niche genre)
“I applaud MacFarlane for acknowledging what other shows refuse to, that they are liberal in the extreme.”
That’s worthy of applause? Do you applaud Janeane Garofalo?
“Plus, like SouthPark, Family Guy isn’t afraid to poke fun at some of these celebutard causes de jour.”
I think Trey Parker might come to your house and punch you in the nose for likening Family Guy to South Park.
I’m not going to tell you it’s a bad show and you shouldn’t watch it. If you think it is funny, fine. But I don’t buy that McFarland is some sort of equal opportunity offender. He ain’t. I’ve seen the ‘liberal in the extreme’, I’ve not seen anything to balance it. To be specific, I don’t consider making fun of JFK to be giving voice to conservatives.
This sounds like a sweeps-week style attempt to get some more viewers in fly-over country. Once it is done, back to the old ‘liberal in the extreme’ formula.
When Family Guy does stupid “guy” stuff, it’s funny. (Or silly bits like “Bird is the Word” or the dead-frog-in-a-box: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXHaCEhOiWU )
But the one-sided political crap lately doesn’t even pretend to be funny.
This is the short-sightedness of entertainment executives at it's most visible. MacFarlane, in the interview, says "the show's is liberal because all the writers are liberal". Did it not dawn on anyone that it might be a good idea to hire a few conservative or even libertarian leaning writers? Wouldn't a show that appeals to a broader base of viewers attract more viewers and thus, more ad revenue?
Sure, given their brand of humor, they'll never appeal to the purely SoCon viewer. But, there's an awfully lot of economic and defense minded-conservatives that they could entertain and appeal to.
