I have. It's wonderful, she's wonderful! The Highwayman is my favorite Loreena McKennitt song. This one, below, that I did for Amy's Place back in February is another of Loreena's songs that I love.
Thanks for posting the Highwayman, fewz. The poem has special meaning to me and Loreena's beautiful rendition brings it to life.
fewz, I skimmed through first and then read it clearly and slowly. When I heard the song by Loreena McKennitt, oh how I appreciated it! Thank you so much!
Good morning, MEG. Doesn’t Loreena have a hauntingly beautiful voice? I have a couple of her CD’s. I think she is not as widely known here as she is in Canada.
Hi Lori, Didn’t get the “below one”....seemed like something tried to come through and then vanished.
Happy Monday Morning!
I went back and its there! Maybe ‘my computer’...who knows?
I am hoping to be able to reintroduce myself today to everyone who is probably thinking, "who is this MamaBear person? Do we know her?" LOL.
Sometimes it takes awhile for these large music files to download, even with a high speed connection. It probably looked like it had hung up/vanished, but it was still downloading in the background. That sometimes happens on my computer too.
Always good to hear from you, dear Lori! Either here or Facebook....I just can’t seem to find time to stay on Facebook too long but I like it! Its just one of those things. ((Sometimes a body has to do some work...LOL!))
That’s a good one too. It’s on the same album with The Highwayman and Best Buy has that album so I’m going to get a copy. I haven’t heard her before, I missed that post back in February, but I like her singing.
Ms. jaycee, are you the lady on facebook that’s sitting in a lawn chair with sunglasses on?
It sho is! Are you on there? I will have to contact you...do you go by fewz or that other name that I have? LOL!
I agree. Back when I was a engineer, I got to work on some interesting projects but now I mow lawns, vacuum, mop, clean, wash clothes & dishes, and cook along with doing other chores of opportunity.
I’m not fewz on facebook. I think you have my name.
10-4...........
The wind was a torrent of darkness
among the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed
upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight,
over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding-
Riding-riding-
The highwayman came riding, up to the
old inn-door.
I don’t think she is real well known here, not as well known as she is in Canada, where she is from. I had assumed she was from Ireland or thereabouts, when I first heard her Celtic music, but (according to Wikipedia) she was born in Manitoba to an Irish mother and Scottish father. Her songs seem to have either a Celtic or a middle eastern feel to them. I think she has a beautiful voice.
And back when I was a Secretary, I had a cleaning lady every week....think I liked that better! LOL!
