This is how it breaks down for me:
Bolt action rifle - Savage Scout
Semi-auto rifle - Bushmaster Carbon-15 AR w/M4 config
Shotgun - Remington 870 tactical
Small calibur rifle - Ruger 10/22
Semi-auto handgun - Taurus Millenium Pro 9mm
Revolver - haven't decided but something in .357

These are the weapon systems that I want to be proficient at before I make any other purchases.
Kinda of hard, though, when the itch comes along to buy another gun. : D.

What?
You think I want to let the snooping ears/eyes of the anti-gun lobby know what I own so that they can demand I turn it/them over when they come a-knockin’ at my door?
Cold . . . dead . . . hands.

Bolt action rifle - Model 700 XCR Compact Tactical Rifle

Semi-auto rifle - M1A Squad Scout

Shotgun - Ithaca Defensive model. One of the best buys oon the market.

Small calibur rifle - Marlin Model 60

Semi-auto handgun - Nothing beats a good 1911. The Taurus 1911 is one of the best buys. Lots of features at a good price.

Revolver handgun - Anything in 357.

Bolt action rifle - Remington 700 LTR in .308
Semi-auto rifle - AR-15 clone (Lone Star Armory)
Shotgun - Remington 870 (but I'm considering a Saiga-12)
Small calibur rifle - Ruger 10/22 tuned by Volquartsen
Semi-auto handgun - Colt 1911
Revolver handgun - Ruger SP-101 in .357 mag.
How's the Carbon-15 working out for you? I remember those having some problems before Bushmaster bought the design. Does it use a standard AR bolt and carrier?

I might disagree somewhat with you on Makes and Models, but I completely agree with you on types of weapons and calibers.

My input:
Bolt action rifle: Remington M700 MILSPEC 5R .308
Semi-auto rifle: Springfield Armory M1A .308
Shotgun: Remington M870 Marine Magnum 12 ga.
Small caliber rifle: Marlin Golden 39A .22
Semi-auto handgun: Colt SS Gold Cup .45 ACP
Revolver handgun: Smith & Wesson Model 19 .357 Magnum
FYI - The M700 5R is the most accurate riflr I have ever owned.

I have a Saiga 12 and love it. You can see a pic of mine at my FR homepage.

- Bolt action - Savage Scout - good performance reasonable price
- Semi-auto - Saiga either .308 or .223 - rugged, reliable, relatively inexpensive, adequate accuracy
- Shotgun - Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 either one is totally reliable and inexpensive
- Small calibre rifle - Ruger 10/22 is there any other?
- Semi-auto pistol - Glock...your flavor - best record of durability and reliability of any
- Revolver - S&W Model 21 or 22 (44 special or .45 ACP) No doubt proven manstopping rounds without the over penetration of a .357
There you go, the definitive answer. Everyone else is wrong (unless they agree with me) :)

I guess the meaning of “affordability” is in the eyes of the beholder. :)

All my guns, ammo, and reloading equipment were lost in a terrible RV fire. Very sad.

Tauraus for 1911????
How about a Kimber? When looking at a life saving weapon, “value” is not part of the equation.

If I were limited to only one of these, ammunition commonality and parts availability would change the equation a bit..
Bolt action: Remington 700 (.308)
Semi-Auto: FN/FAL (probably DSA)
Shotgun: Mossberg 590A1
Small cal rifle: 10/22
Semi-Auto H/G: Glock 21
Revolver: Something in 45acp (1917, taurus, etc.)
Having only .308, 12ga, 22lr and .45 to worry about would be helpful.
Without that restriction it would probably be..
Bolt Action: Remington 700 (alt Sig blaser)
Semi Auto: ar15 with LMT MRP & 5.56/6.8SPC barrels
Shotgun: Mossberg 590A1
Small Cal: 10/22
Semi-Auto: Glock 21 (alt USP .45T)
Revolver: S&W / John Ross 500 S&W Magnum
