You’re worth it.
BTW, I just realized, I don’t recall if you’re an RC or Protty or Preterist or what! LOL.
Usually such categories are not that critical to me as long as someone knows Jesus in their hearts.
One of his other accounts is El Rushbo which is still open but that he hasn’t used since August 2007, he won’t tell us what name he was using from then until this account that he started in February of this year.
It seems that Free Republic continually has to walk the middle of the road somewhat - not ideologically, but between gravitas and entertainment.
***That there is some dern good ritin’, FReeper. And so was the rest of yer post.
There might be some merit to a conservative quiz on each homepage showing what things a Freeper supports and is most passionate about. But many Freepers wouldn’t want to fill one out for reasons that have nothing to do with their conservative credentials. And people lie.
***The fact that someone doesn’t fill it out would be very telling in itself. And it’s the liars that would get found out — those are the ones who are here for some kind of disruptive purpose and my hope would be that the mods boot them if they keep it up.
I would also like to see some way to segregate no horseplay threads for those who wish serious debate or organization. However, unless you limit the membership such as on the caucus threads in the religious forum it would be hard to control. Once again, people lie.
***Yes, again we go back to that system currently working so well on the religion forum. If there were some kind of caucus-type categorizing at the moment a person posts a thread it would save FR a lot of headaches. Right now there’s useless categorizing when a FReeper opens a thread, you choose between various subject matters. A simple addition of what kind of thread you’d hope to see, limiting troll behavior rather than letting it be a free-for-all, would signal a tighter set of rules for the mods to go by. Sounds like a winner to me. But I doubt JimRob would go for it.
Concerning my analogy...
***It was a good analogy. Another good one might be Julius Caesar about to cross the Rubicon. Or the Whig party and how it fell apart due to the social issues facing it and how it became the republican party. While we’re on analogies, here’s mine for big tent republicanism:
Im a big tent republican.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1821435/posts?page=6245#6245
Heres an analogy to work with. Take a small box and fill it with some rocks. Then add some rice, filling it to the top. Now take all the same stuff, but in a different order. Put in the rice first, then add the rocks. What youll find is that if you put in the big stuff first, the small stuff will fit around it. But if you put in the small stuff first, the big stuff wont have room. The republican tent is the box. The Big issues are the socon issues, to be put in first. The little issues are things that can be accommodated around the bigger stuff. A candidate who tries to focus on the smaller issues first and leave out the bigger issues has no way of getting all of us into the tent. He splits the party. The candidate who gets the big stuff right and as much of the little stuff that will fit, he can fit more into the tent. Were often amazed at how much rice can keep fitting in. Rudy Giuliani flunks some of the big issues, and on some of the little issues it looks to me like anyone elses rice would do just as well. All that remains for us to agree on is which are the bedrock principles and which are not. Why would there be so much invective aimed at rudy from the right? Because there are some bedrock principles that he is leaving out. Bad move. I see rudybot postings all the time saying that they would vote for Hunter, and I see socon postings that say they would not vote for rudy. Thats a BIG indicator of a few bedrock principles that are being left outside the tent in order to let in some rice.
There are some true conservatives here but I see less and less of them. They know what better place for the non conservative to come but here.
***I’m afraid I don’t understand this sentence. Does it mean we’re witnessing a mass exodus of conservatives to some other site? If this is the best place for non-conservatives to come, what happened to the conservatives?
So to pretend this isn’t massive - not just one or two - is deception in play.
***By the time the owner of this website wakes up to the reality, it is likely to be too late. But what can you and I do about this issue, here and now? I have floated my suggestions and JimRob answered with the back of his hand, calling me a newbie. I’m reasonably certain that FR will at some point implement such a system, but it will be due to some alpha freeper promoting it.
Idunno. Those epoples do some funny stuff...
If you want a “War Room”, why not ask the mods and Jim to set up a forum within the forum, much like Religion or the Smokey Backroom?
***That’s actually a good suggestion. I second it.
Yeah, but when you laugh at them, they get all upset and their noses run.
Hank Hill might have said it, but I grew up with that saying.
I've used it a time or two myself. ;o)
Yes. It was Eric, my pet fish.
Ohhh...I believe more than one responded to Bert that way.
In fact, more than one accused him of, to put it politely, tippling.
I think they did it to get a rise out of him, and were usually successful.
There were some people who were very upset with him at times, and rightly so.
However, in every encounter I had with him, he was kind, gentlemanly, and respectful towards me.
That’s the Bert I choose to remember.
Aw heck!
I c/p it, and didn’t proofread it.
My bad...
Thank you for pointing it out.
Correction made...;o)
You might be on to something there.
were you here for the Elian Gonzalez fights? same cast of characters were on the wrong side of that one too.
To be fair, I don’t think that jveritas was a supporter of illegal immigration, wardaddy.
He did a great job translating those Iraqi papers for us, and the world.
It seemed that the media certainly wasn’t interested in it.
That being said, I totally agree with everything else you posted.
I was on a “secret troll list” once (maybe I’m still on there; don’t know... LOL...). That was for calling some of posters crazy for their ideas of how to get rid of Obama (like surrounding the White House with tanks and/or getting a U.S. Marshal to escort Obama out in handcuffs).
Now, at first, I thought this was humor and comedy, and I’m one for a good laugh now and again. But, I found out that some of these guys were serious about those two items — and I was a troll for telling them they were crazy (I believe I also called them out as having the “Obama Derangement Syndrome” too, as it was called in our conservative press, like blogs and other conservative writers... LOL...).
So — really — it’s not too hard to get on a “troll list” around here.
But, as to whether you really are one or not — that’s another question... :-)
—
Heck! I think I just got on another “troll list” in the last couple of days (at least someone’s personal troll list...) for calling Romney a member of a cult group and that the GOP better never run him again, or else they will *lose* bigtime...
So, I guess the real rule around here on Free Republic is that you get on a troll list whenever someone doesn’t like your opinion... :-)
You asked of another poster — And whom did you support, Obama?
—
I don’t know about you, but I voted for Palin... :-)
You said — jveritas to many on FR if you dissent from them in ANY way you are a troll or a RINO.
—
No..., tell me this isn’t true! LOL...
Well..., I’ve got a suggestion for ridding the board of trolls. My rule would be if someone calls me a troll, definitely they should be banned... :-)
You said — I would dare say that most of the people who have replied to your post here, are not liberals. Heck, there might not be any in the list of posters.
—
Well, I’ve been called a liberal troll, but that was after I said a few people had lost their grip on reality for thinking that they were going to get tanks to surround the White House and get Obama out that way. I think I said that they were part of the Obama Derangement Syndrome for thinking that way.... LOL...
And — very promptly — I was called a liberal troll. I think I’m on a “secret list” right now — ready to be purged at a moment’s notice (at probably 2 A.M. no less...)....
