Sorry to hear about your female. Are ACDs difficult dogs to live with if they don't have a (very active) job to do? That would be my only concern -- that they'd have to constantly be working hard to be happy dogs.

I've mostly had Newfs, who just like to lay around and go for an occasional swim.

That’s what they say. My male is very low key though. I work at home and they sleep until about 2PM and then wrestle for a couple of hours. They definitely need a bunch of activity. I keep em busy. Mine are playing tug of war as we speak. They are very intelligent and employ what my wife calls ACD calculus.

Definitely unique. High on the aggressiveness scale. One thing I like about them is that they don’t bark a lot.
