Indeed! I am invariably attracted to redheads. And she is a rare one, given the brown eyes.
I'm using PC laptops and desktops and haven't had any of those problems either. Seriously. And a Mac just will not work with the secure online sites I need to visit daily.
uh... not really.
I switched after my last hard drive crashed. Just gave it a try. I've got 5 other PC's in the house my laptop is a Macbook Pro.
It plugged into my HP Photosmart... worked. Same with my camera, Ipod, Palm pilot, and wireless network. No probs.
I've only had the spinning wheels a couple of times and there are a lot of things that I'd like but have managed to find when the Apple stuff isn't good enough.
The other kicker is that if I want to run a windows based product, I can. On the same machine and just as fast as most PC based computers.
I'm probably not going to buy another PC based machine, but if you like to work on machines and play around with programming and stuff like that.. go for it.
I just want it to turn on and work... and I'm willing to pay for it.

Well, a guy I work with lost everything he had on his mac harddrive. They IT people even sent the HD off to a company only to find that nothing was recoverable. Nothing is infallible.
Larry Lucido - Why write a virus for a few Mac users?
astyanax - ...have to deal with DRM...
jdsteel - And a Mac just will not work with the secure online sites I need to visit daily.
To let this many myths stand...Apple is obviously not all that great at marketing...
Sure the ratio of PC users is higher on FR, but my point is that since I’ve been a member of FR, I’ve yet to see a thread from a Mac user asking for the type of tech help like those from PC users. They are non-existent.
They must have decent marketing if people are willing to overlook this:
“DRM Built Into New iPod Shuffle Headphones”
“Apple’s new MacBooks have built-in copy protection measures”
“New iPod Has Hardware DRM”
Myth?
know what you mean about some sites...they don’t like Safari. We use Firefox for Mac to access those.
My office has to use Windows, but nearly everyone of us uses Mac at home. We’d switch but the industry software is all Windows based.
Also, there are a few apps that stink on Mac. Quicken for Mac is a complete joke — it’s like some 15 year old version of Quicken and won’t support a lot of current functions. Therefore you can’t really port over all of your data to the Mac version. So I run Windows in a Parallels box just for Quicken and one tax program. It’s a bit ironic since the CEO of Intuit (maker of Quicken) is/was on Apple’s board of directors.
That's why they tell you to back-up your harddrive. Any computer's harddrive can die or experience problems. The files or photos I want to keep, I've burned to disk. As well, my son partitioned the harddrive on my iBook G4 when I got it several years ago. If anything goes wrong in the one partition, I can still boot up in the other. I've never had any problems, but it's nice to know it's there if I need it.
Myth?
#s 1 and 3 are.
I understand the need for backup. He actually had an auto back to an external HD that also failed.
I have used PCs since my first purchase in 1984 of a TI portable and have never had a HD fail. I do routinely backup just in case there is a firt time.
But not an Apple Lisa in the 80s. :)
dang my mac worked so well that I double posted hahahahahaha....
And I’ve only used Macs. My first one was an Apple PowerPC 405 which I bought used from my oldest son. I can’t even remember how many years ago that was. That’s when Apple sold their computers bundled. I’ve had 3 new iMacs and two new iBooks in my life, and have passed them all down to my youngest son when I’ve bought a newer one. In all the years I’ve used Macs, I’ve never had a harddrive failure, and neither has my youngest son. People use whatever kind of computer they feel comfortable with. I’ve stuck with Apple because I’ve gotten well-running machines that have never had to be taken into a shop for repair. I’m from the old school: When you find something that works...you stick with it.
I had and have questions, especially about short cuts and little quirks that worked on Windows and not on my Mac.
I like my mac, but work with a PC dos-based system at work.
Scrolling through menus is a joke but that's what the IT people tell the administrators they "have to " use.
