My daughter was doing volunteer work at the local SPCA. Going in and seeing all the dogs “in jail” through largely their owners’ faults was tough. I couldn’t go in without wanting to take home 5 or 6.

Let me know how your pouch is doing.....my 13 yo lab has all sorts of growths on him, I call them old man bumps, the vet and I are not too worried......

Last October my old dog died. He stayed as long as he could, and his passing was peaceful.I was so bereft. Many people tried to give me dogs, but I wasn’t ready. One Saturday in November I was supposed to receive a little chocolate chihuahua. I called the owners and declined. It was just too soon. Later that day (I am a dog groomer at petco) I was walking through the store and there is this little nondescript dog for adoption. I picked her up and my knees started to buckle. I have never felt so much love in one jolt. I believe she was sent by G-d. She definitely rescued me.

Thank you for such a sweet story. I think sometimes animals choose us, we don't choose them.....you are right G-d sent you a rescue...and during these times we need to remember G-d will rescue us we only need to ask...

BTW, I think Petco does the best job in grooming dogs....and at a great price !!!!

Ever since my experience with my beloved fur child, I view dogs that need homes as “waiting for their Moms and/or Dads to find them.” My little angel had been in the dog pound for a month. She was so quiet that they thought she was debarked. Within an hour of me adopting her you couldn’t shut her up! LOL! Thanks for the kind words about Petco. I am very proud to work for a truly ethical organization.

She came out of surgery just fine yesterday, but she's not a fan of having her paw wrapped up.. The doc said the growth came out much easier and cleaner than expected, but we'll be sweating out the biopsy for a few days. I'm hoping we noticed this and got it taken care of before it had a chance to metastisize.

I'd never heard of them before, but malignant nailbed tumors are fast, nasty, and fairly common in older black dogs.

I know the drill on lumps and bumps on old dogs pretty well. The 12 year old has a few others, but our 14 year old beagle is starting to look like a bag of marbles. So far they've been benign.
