Yep, about the only news I’ve heard about Iraq has been about the successful elections. It’s certainly gotten very quiet.

Before the November election, I told my husband, the only good thing about Obama winning would be how well the Iraq war would suddenly be going once he was in office. Obama’s very presence has created an instant calm in the whole region, lol. The media is so transparent.

I heard this story on the BBC while driving in this morning at the top of the hour:

Car Bombs Hit Shiite Pilgrims in Baghdad, Kill 9

I don't know if it was likewise covered in the US news.

Apparently it is still going on. The Detroit News today published several letters from whiners complaining about how the porkulus was being held up by evil Republicans. Several took the opportunity to point out that the money being spent in Iraq would be better spent here—presumably following our surrender.

Anyone know where the Iraq war went?

I just checked my sock drawer.

It's not in there.

I checked with my husband. He reports that we’re still at war. (So glad I could be of some assistance.)

VDH just reported that 7 troops were killed in Iraq last month. There were 40 murders in Chicago during the same time period. I’m looking for a surge into the Windy City but I just don’t think the place is ready for democracy.

Go to MySA.com and hit Military. Because San Antonio is a military town with four bases, we have alot of news re: Iraq, Afghanistan and the military one does not see anywhere else. It is an excellent source for positive stories about the soldiers also.

We have a journalist here, Sig Christenson, who has recently been in Iraq. He has written excellent articles about the war and the soldiers. He and the soldiers often become friends and they stay in touch with him. You might want to read his stories on MySA.com
