No surprise to me. He’s from Baltimore and it was news a few years ago when he got a DUI. A friend of a friend knows Phelps and says he loves Land Rovers so much he buys a new one every year. Gets “tired of them” after a few months. The offer to cover up the story does not help.
It was predicted he would make 100 million from sponsorships.

Phelps was just named USOC atlete of the year. He is also High Times Athlete of the Year. High Times is doing a feature on him with the cover being a bong with 8 gold medals around it. He nudged out the USA snow boatding team.

As for Phelps, well, it’s depressing, but on the other hand, no one is going to say that he didn’t win those 14 Gold Medals honestly. It’s not like marijuana is a “performance enhancing drug.”

Have you not noticed yet that the ears in the picture you posted are a good bit SMALLER than the ears in the tabloid picture? You could put part of that down to perspective or camera distortion, but still.
His forehead is covered by something. Forehead shape is another way we identify others.
And his mouth's stuck inside the bong, so we can't rely on THAT feature either.
It may very well be Michael Phelps, but there's nothing in this photo that screams "Michael Phelps!" definitively. In fact, that picture looks a lot more like one of my college boyfriends than it does Michael Phelps.
Phelps's flacks allegedly offered the News "incentives" not to publish instead of a Hell, no! followed by a promise to sue the paper into bankruptcy. If that's the case, the non-denial denial speaks volumes.
So, to continue, the key word in your post is "allegedly". And it sure takes a lot longer than one day to sue a newspaper into bankruptcy. So not only does the "non-denial" NOT speak volumes, it's barely a sentence at this point.

You can’t be much of a poster if you can’t see the utility in proving the picture is real. I looked at the picture this morning and I was not convinced at all that it was Phelps. Until I saw B-roll footage this evening of Phelps w/ hair all over his face and looking like the photo, and his admission that it was indeed him, I was not convinced.

Excuse me, but I was correct. I was able to analyze the photo and make the correct determination based on shapes and perspective. It is not my fault the other poster was the pompous ass who claimed to have some special ability and was then proven wrong. I’m waiting to hear an apology to me.
