I had to stop in at the "local" (it's 5 miles away) grocery on the way in this morning. They changed the layout last year and it's awful. I still spend a lot of time trying to find things -- and left today without a couple of items because I didn't have any more time to hunt for them. Grrr...
OTOH, I just got an e-mail that indicates the way is likely cleared for me to go to Shanghai this October. But then, corporate is cutting back on non-customer travel and so I learned this morning I won't have any co-workers with me in Finland next month.

Stephen Hawking working around to proving me right. Again... Takes him long enough. Multiple mechanisms for blackholes to "evaporate". Quantum tunneling. Virtual particle pairs. +c values for Δv due to -ev acceleration at the poles.
Black holes are the Universe's "recycling bins". The curviture of space/time doesn't mean we're inside an inflating torus, we're in a roiling mass that is ever moving in multiple directions at all times.
There was no Big Bang. There will be no Big Crunch. There will be no Universal "luke warm soup" ending.
Everything recycles....

I’m wearing pink sweatpants and a blue t-shirt. The only green outfit I own is too small (but I wore it every Sunday for 3 months, before I grew too large!).
Anoreth scored a composite 84th percentile on the ASVAB. The Coast Guard recruiter is very pleased. She’ll go for her medical review after she turns 18, to save everyone a lot of paperwork. Hopefully we’ll have the info on her tonsillectomy from Oklahoma by then ...
The Army would let her do *anything*, until they read the part about her being 5’1” and weighing 100 pounds in boots.
