Horrible dress. Michelle wore some beautiful suits during the campaign, appropriate for a professional woman. This dress makes her look like a hausfrau and is inappropriate for the time of day, location, and solemnity of the event. And the flat shoes - aaacccckkk!!!! The only time I have worn flats to church is when I was recovering from knee surgery! And I am taller than my husband!

Please add me to the Ping list. I am happy to compliment the First Lady when she deserves it; I think she is a very attractive woman and is trying to be fashion-forward, which is a good thing. But she has gotten some terrible fashion advice lately.

I agree. A BIG part of the job is representing. They should at least get that notion. I think it would be one of the more difficult parts — every day playing the role of Head Cheerleader In Chief, God Bless America, and Hail To The Red, White, and Blue. George Bush did it admirably. Clinton kind of sucked at it, but he at least tried. I would hate it, myself. I have a feeling Barack, and especially Weezie, jes ain’ gon’ play that shii.

Thank you for posting this. I was hoping someone whould start a Michelle Fashion thread. I think many of us have been startled to see what she is choosing to wear. It is almost comical except that she is representing us, and it is not a good image to show to the world. Case in point - the cocktail dress and coat she wore for the inauguration yesterday.

Oh, I think Barack loves her very much. I was touched by how much they held hands yesterday and last night during the balls. I don't think you can fake the way he looked at her when they danced. I like her, and I LOVE the girls. I thought she was wonderful at the DNC convention - better than him, in fact. And the dress she wore for that speech was fantastic. She looks very good in simple, straight dresses and suits in jewel tones.

Her attire choices so far are telling me she isn't really down with the whole First Lady thing at all.

Two things -

Proper decorum would dictact a long sleeve suit or something similiar to what she wore yesterday to the inauguration. In addition, she needs a coordinating hat

And every time I see that woman, I want to put my knee into the center of her back and pull her shoulders back. Her posture is horrible and she will have a permanent hump by the time she is 50 if she keeps it up. She is already round-shouldered and the hump comes next.
