Elections have consequences. You might want to remind those who voted for O of this.

This is going to be Presidency of show and symbolism above all else. The fawning press will willingly go along and we will be greeted with spectacle and rehtoric that will put the cheekiest of the despots to shame.

I fully expect that O will roll out a version of Chavez’s famous Saturday chats in order to keep the peasants in line and conceal what is really going on behind the scenes. Judging by the euphoria that is accompanying the run up to the coronation, it will be a very long time before the American people wake up to what they have done.

“Tradition and respect for our Nation’s symbols—that silly stuff is just for conservatives:”

Beat me to it...and I’m glad you are sharing it for all to see.

It is symbolism over substance.

This is the same guy who refused to put his hand over his heart during the Star Spangled Banner.

The wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are changed 6 to 8 times a day, in conjunction with the changing of the Guard.

Everybody from Putin to the King of Belgium to visiting 8th grade classes has changed the wreath.

Wreaths have been laid down almost 200,000 times since the Tomb’s dedication.

The hysteria on this board is unbelievable.

I sincerely doubt those Marine's would allow any dishonor to that tomb. As a matter of fact, I know they wouldn't.

You might want to check your comments. The Tomb of the Unknowns is guarded 24/7 by members of the US Army's 3rd Infantry - "The Old Guard."

And to all others: My error on who guards to the tomb.

The tomb of the Unknown is guarded by the US Army,The “Old Guard” not the Marines. They could not be expected to halt the illegitimate President elect and his senile Vice-President,from placing a wreath even if it is not protocol

So they wouldn't stop me?

You certainly don’t sound like a democrat to me.

There are many on this board who look at Obama’s many acts in the “office of the president-elect” and see them for the shameless hustle they are. I know I object to him performing this solemn ceremony, especially at this point, when he is in no office whatsoever.

Welcome. Represent your opinion in a reasonable manner as you have done here, and you will be a welcome addition to FreeRepublic.

I feel for the military the next four years. Except for those who voted for BO, those ones deserve it.

The memory of the Unknown soldier deserves better than this.

If the space shuttle was launching Tuesday, I’d watch that instead of the national travesty that would be played opposite it.

Well I certainly think so. I think flag etiquette states that it is not to be marred.

Thanks. I was a bit worried that it would be taken wrong. I think a lot of problems today (especially financial) are due to the failure of not taking a conservative outlook.
