So shes supply side and hes a demand side. That's part of the story. The man is also a liberal. He simply takes the wife's earnings (transfer of wealth) so he can spend as he wishes. The wife sees no net accumulation of wealth because the man is spending it for her, even if it's on her. So the wife is being screwed both ways.
