I’ll be in Saigon beginning 1/23; look for me in/at the bar at the hotel across from Continental Hotel/Opera House. I’ll be the young guy in the body of a 60 year old, the one hoping they have Budweiser and not that crap, Tiger.

Oops, I forgot to answer your question. You won’t find a memorial to U.S. troops anywhere in VN unless you consider the pic of an official presenting an award to John F’ing Kerry - that’s in the War Museum in Saigon.
Most bigger VN cities have memorials to the VN dead but not to the U.S. dead. I also haven’t come across any memorials in the U.S. to Nazi dead, Kor Comm dead, etc.
hey wally, so what you playing, or are you singing? Jazz? rock?
thanks rembrandt but i’m only in Hanoi till 12 Jan. then flying back to Singapore. Yea, I can’t stand that crap Tiger you should try Asahi, Japanese beer. different from Bud, but great taste.
If you’re brave, look for signs, as you go around town. If you see a sign that says “bia hoi,” that means (homemade) draft beer, unpasteurized. I used to drink San Miguel in the Philippines before it was pasteurized and it was pure heaven!
Now in VN, ya gotta take your chances. I’m sure it would taste good. But will you have any nasty reminders for the next couple of days? You have to make the call yourself.
Try Cha Ca La Vong - you’ll like it. Quaint and tasty.
