Velcro was invented in 1941.
I know this because I saw one of those Hitler channel shows that showed the moon race tech spin offs and it asked which ones were from Nasa and which on wasn’t and I guessed wrong on Velcro.

I’d rather put money into NASA than AIG, all the deadbeat banks combined, and the security of Bernie Madoff.

That’s our basket and all of our eggs are in it unless we figure out how to get off of the planet.

We have a little window here - between the time we know how to get off and the time we'll be too broke or destroyed to leave. "Shortsighted" might be on humanity's epitaph.

I’ve read that NASA represents just 0.6% of the Federal budget. Sounds like a bargain to me.

“See that little blue world in the picture in reply 2? That’s our basket and all of our eggs are in it unless we figure out how to get off of the planet.”

See that pseudo alarm?

Hi Kevin. Stupid article, but nice thread, thanks.

The Chinese are going to space whether we do or not (as even the author points out), which means they may have an opportunity to militarily dominate us. On that level alone abandoning our space program is probably a non starter. If Obama drops the ball, the next guy will probably have to pick it up.

There are untold amounts of wealth in space, but also untold dangers to earth. We don’t really have a choice in whether we stay or go. We have to go and the sooner the better.

"or prepare to take measurements of your browncoat..." Too bad I don't have a ship like Serenity, though, to use as a home.

Sure, I have another hard drive in the same box or “basket”, if you will. I bought it in 2000. It’s still quite a nice system and it looks as though I’ll get the ten years out of it I’d planned for back then. Yeah, I’ve been tempted to upgrade many times but the longer I continue the regular maintenance of this one, the more it’s life-cycle can be extended. Not so true of Earth, though...However, only fools rush in, as they say.
