Where is your paradise?

We are in beautiful Santa Ynez,CA, just north east of Santa Barbara. In what part of northern San Diego County do you reside? All three of our adult children live in Los Angeles now. Lots of friends in San Diego. My folks spent the racing season every year in Del Mar.

Ahh ... we are parents of three kids between 8 and 15 so we aren’t doing anything soon, but for the first time we visited Solvang and the Santa Ynez valley just last month. My wife wants to retire there someday. Pastoral, just like the old California used to be. Wine tasting was fabulous.

We have friends living there — relatives, almost — and I could sure imagine living in Ballard or somewhere nearby with a couple acres and a nice ranch house.

Yes, you are in paradise. I thought you were going to say you lived in Visalia or Sacramento or Hollister — and then I would’ve chuckled — but you were true to your word.

I only lie when absolutely necessary. For instance, I never would have admitted to the Nazis that Ann Frank was in my attic if Ann Frank was in my attic.

I used to live in Bakersfield which is charming in it's own right but it certainly pales in comparison to Santa Ynez. We live in the house that once belonged to my husband's grandparents. It is right down town in the Township of Santa Ynez. If your friends have lived in the valley for awhile they will know us as "The Clinton House" as we had some pretty funny displays on our front porch and front lawn during the Clinton administration.

If you come back here you should look me up. I love giving tours and taking folks wine tasting. My son worked at Gainey Vineyards over his school breaks and I have many friends at other tasting rooms.
