I better go look outside.
No snow yet, but everything that was wet earlier is now frozen.
Feel free to keep it up there!
I have to go north tomorrow, thankfully not that far. LOL
Have you ever seen more soulful eyes? If you can, give $5 or $10 to this volunteer animal rescue group see below. You know this is my favorite charity. Just a few dollars from each of us is so helpful - it means whether these dogs get rescued and get homes.
Click here http://www.petconnectrescue.org/ if you want to give a few dollars (and yes, if you want to give more than a few, you can be sure it would be used wisely.)
One other thing, if you do go to this website and give, tell them GretaWire sent you since it is fun for me to hear later how many animal lovers there are amongst us and I ask.
This is Thelma. She was turned into a shelter because her family would no longer care for her. A pet that is surrendered by its owner is usually euthanized before many of the other shelter animals. There is no need to hold the animal for very long. Sadly, the shelter staff understands that there is no one to come back for that abandoned animal. PetConnect rescued Thelma just in time - the shelter was overcrowded that week.
Millions of dogs and cats are euthanized each year in America because there is simply no place for them to go. These animals are not dying because they are unsuitable pets or because they are unlovable; it is simply because most of America does not know that they are out there. In rescue organizations across the country it is possible to find every size, every breed, every age and every type of dog or cat. Awareness is the missing element in pet rescue.
We can all help today, right now
.by simply spreading the word. Tell everyone you know about rescue animals. Encourage every animal lover you meet to get involved. Speak up for the sad dog lying by his cage door hoping that his owner will return for him soon. Speak up for the cat that was dropped off at a shelter because her owner lost her house. Speak up for all of the animals that just want a place to call home. Do it now because they dont have much time left.
Dogs and cats are dying in silence. Voiceless, helpless animals are waiting in cold steel cages for us to speak for them. Whatever we are doing to get the word out, we need to triple, quadruple the effort. The louder we speak, the more we can save.
Searching for the perfect gift for an animal lover that you know? Make a contribution to save homeless animals in honor of a special family member, friend or pet! Check out PetConnects website for details! www.petconnectrescue.org
Dont forget to mention that Greta sent you!
Thank you
Ping to #206
Please pass it on.
Hi WCG...............Yep, I’m going thru the DT’s. I think wer’e headed for a strange year next season.
BTW, I’m the guy who saw all the pain during Katrina and donated to save the animals instead of the people. I’ll gladly chip in a few dollars for this.
Roger
Great picture!
Hi all, I just thought to look here for NASCAR talk. I am in withdrawals. LOL Keep checking NASCAR.com and Jayski almost every day and not getting my fix. Hope all is well with you all.
It’s COLD!!!!!!
Where is global warming when you need it????
What a great cause. Thanks for the ping. I’ll send some e-mails.
Yer right. It is COLD!!!!
I hate to say this but we exceeded our forecast high today by 1 degree. We actually got to 42. That’s supposed to be a game not a temp.
It’s hard to imagine families who just “turn in” their pets. Yikes!
It’s hard to imagine, but I know it’s true because 4 of my best dogs have come to me because others didn’t want them and in one case due to military couldn’t keep them anymore. To me, the best of my pets have come from someone else’s home first. They ARE some of the best most lovable animals, maybe because they’re so happy to be in a household where they’re wanted.
This is a great charity and if anybody wonders about adopting older pets, I would highly recommend it!!!
Awww thank you umgud for your kindness, that so nice to hear. The animals have no choice in what happens to them, people do.
thank you Roger, every dollar is precious to them.
Hi Wneighbor, I thought you were on the ping list, but we will put you back on.
The doggies do need our help. I have two rescues currently and they are so happy to be warm, fed and loved!! One was so skinny when I got him I could feel his entire spine and ribs. Now he’s all filled out and will never have to suffer again. The other was afraid of everything and everyone, now he’s just a lovebug.
Thank you so much flutters, be sure to mention Greta and the Nascar board. :D
