One of Moses’ wives was an Ethiopian woman. Can’t get much blacker than that, I would imagine.
An interesting hypothetical construct from a population of ONE.
Actually I think the Ethiopians are less black than some other African populations. Amharic and several other Ethiopian languages are classed with the Semitic languages—apparently Semitic-speakers crossed over from southern Arabia to that area.
Next, some mtDNA will be extracted from these bones and it will be “proved” that they have no living descendants. Ergo...
The researchers concluded that he belonged to the Mediterranean branch of the Caucasoid group, scientific terminology for what is known as "white."Weird thing though -- I'm not one of the researchers.
Ann Dunham and her most famous offspring?
Of course if one of them impregnated a northern European with a male child, that child could claim to be black to run for office.
The Ethiopian I worked for and some of the students in our program at college were very black.
Most folks who live along the Mediterranean sea are a least olive colored.
Thread useless without pics (of course, none of the several news articles have pics either).
Alexander Pushkin had an Ethiopian ancestor...I've seen a portrait of him and it looks like he had some African ancestry.
Homer has the Greek gods off partying in Ethiopia. Knowing how Zeus and some of the other gods were wont to behave, wantonly, they may have knocked up some of the local girls while there. The Greek philosopher Xenophanes wrote that the Ethiopians thought the gods looked like Ethiopians (of course the Greeks knew that the gods looked Greek).
[Genesis 41:45] And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.
Joseph received two gifts from his father. The first was Shechem, the city that Jacob had defended, with sword and bow, against the depredations of the Amorite kings when they tried to take revenge upon his sons for the outrage committed there. And the second gift was the garments made by God for Adam and passed from hand to hand, until they came into the possession of Jacob. Shechem was his reward, because, with his chastity, he stemmed the tide of immorality that burst loose in Shechem first of all. Besides, he had a prior claim upon the city. Shechem, son of Hamor, the master of the city, had given it to Dinah as a present, and the wife of Joseph, Asenath, being the daughter of Dinah, the city belonged to him by right.
The above paragraph is from The Blessing of Ephraim and Manasseh found in the "Legends of the Jews".
Asenath was the adopted daughter of Pontiphar and the real daughter of Joseph's sister, Dinah. Scripture doesn't tell us that but Hebrew history does. Asenath was Joseph's niece.
You'll find other interesting references to this under the paragraph heading of "Marriage of Joseph" and "Wives of the sons of Jacob".....in fact read the whole section on Joseph and you'll find a lot of interesting tidbits that are not in the scriptures. These tidbits are just that..... historical, but not scriptural. But it does indicate that Asenath was at least half Hebrew and her father was Shechem, son of Hamor the Hivite. She did not have Egyptian blood.
I meant to ping you to post #32.
