Man, I’m just not seeing anything like that. Not even by searching for files does ‘windows’ or ‘system folder’ appear.

Okay, up at the top there’s “applications” ‘Places” and “System” right? if you click Places, the menu drops down to reveal Home, documents, desktop, music, pictures, videos,, a divider then computer, CD/dvd creator, the XX gig Media, and possibly another whatever size Media. These are your drives. If you have a thumb drive plugged in it should show up as a removable or something. Mine shows up as “Traveldrive”.

Now if you open one of the ‘media” drives you should see the folders in that drive. My laptop that I’m using now as the Ubuntu LiveCD machine has no windows on it, but the windows folders should be present on one of the ‘Media” drives.

With me? If you see a pile of folders in one of these “media’drives with things like Program files, Windows or somesuch that you’d expect to see in Windows you’re there. You just need to find the file where your stuff is.

IF, you are unable to find ANY of these things, then I’d suspect your files got corrupted somehow. But if you’re able to boot into Windows, I wouldn’t think that the case.

Tell me what you are seeing.

Under places there is nothing called 'media' listed. I was able to find the files using Slax, but Ubuntu shows nothing of the sort.

Thanks for helping. Hopefully Slax will recognize a USB drive.

My Acer Linux Aspire just arrived. Haven’t tried connecting it to the net.

Anyone got one? Any tips?

Me? No clue....

I'm still on XP, but I had no problem getting SLAX online.

Wish you the best. Check around on Linux forums if you have a problem. There are many Linux ppl here, but I don't know any names off hand.

Thanks much.

I found some great articles on one of the threads. I forget which one. Some of my recent posts would be a way to find out. LOL.
