Dear API editor,
What’s wrong? I keep sending those $5,000 wire transfers to cover your “expenses” in arranging for the movement of the $28 million in gold bullion left behind by your uncle, the late Minister of Mines. I understood from you that I would receive 25% of the value of the gold as a “facilitation fee” and I have done my part. However, I no longer seem to be getting any response from you about when I should pick up the gold.
I do hope that all of the promises you made are still valid because I have now wired you my entire life savings in order to facilitate this transaction for you and your family.
Sincerely,
Your Favorite Gullible American
p.s. Yes, I would also be available to help you publicize these audio recordings of Michelle Obama, but unfortunately my funds are limited because I have already sent you all available dollars for our other piece of business.

No ban, please.
It has become quite entertaining. “What will API do next?” Of course it is more than likely a hoax, but some of us look forward to the next installment.
Times are tight, you don’t get this cheap entertainment in very many places :-)

ACtually, this has been kind of fun.
If we could limit it to the humor thread, I’d be okay with API continuing to send us this $h!t. It gives us a break from the serious stuff.

This is like a really bad soap opera but I cant look away. Hah! Me too. I keep looking to see if they've gotten to the point that all they need is someone's check account and SSNs because this 'tape' is trapped in a pawn shop and they don't have the money to free it...
These guys are funny -- but I have to admire their persistence in beating the same dead horse.

FROM: AFRICAN PRINCESS ESSIENE - A CRY FOR HELP!
I am writing this letter in confidence believing that you and only you can help in securing evidence against Mechelle Obama. I got your contact through the Internet during my research on some one who could help us.
I am a Princess of Nigeria. I am 28 yrs old. I'd like any person who can be caring, loving and home oriented. I will love to have a long-term relationship with you and to know more about you. I would like to build up a solid foundation with you in time coming if you can be able to help me in this transaction.
Well, my father died earlier two months ago. He left us with a tape of Michell Obama saying things which should not be said. I as Princess to him and my brother are the only people who can take Care of this tape now because my mother is not literate enough to know how to play the tape. In addition to the tape he left over $125,000,000 dollars that I will share with you if you secure this tape. Please send your bank account....

Of course, the best insurance policy is to release the tape on the internet for everyone to download. Chief Editor's life is only at stake as long as the tape is not released. Once out, he may be the safest person on earth.

The Obama campaign will have succeeded if it can create a bogus threat, expose it a bogus, and then claim it is representative of all legitimate threats.

A common sight in Lagos.
Hyena Men of Nigeria has to be seen to be believed. Photojournalist
Pieter Hugo was first turned on to the Hyena Men when a friend emailed him a cell phone cam image taken in Lagos, Nigeria of a group of men walking down the street with a leashed hyena. He found a Nigerian reporter who was able to arrange a meeting with the men, locally known as the Gadawan Kura (hyena handlers/guides).
Over the course of two trips to Nigeria Pieter managed to shoot some amazing photographs of the Hyena Men as they became comfortable with him and his lens. You can read the whole story behind Pieters work with the group of Hyena Men, heres a quick bit
"The spectacle caused by this group walking down busy market streets was overwhelming. I tried photographing this but failed, perhaps because I wasnt interested in their performances. I realised that what I found fascinating was the hybridisation of the urban and the wild, and the paradoxical relationship that the handlers have with their animals - sometimes doting and affectionate, sometimes brutal and cruel. I started looking for situations where these contrasting elements became apparent. I decided to concentrate on portraits. I would go for a walk with one of the performers, often just in the city streets, and, if opportunity presented itself, take a photograph. We travelled around from city to city, often chartering public mini-buses."
