Is anyone getting the idea yet that McCain is wearing down and as the campaign drags on, seems to just want it to get over with? I don’t see that with him all the time, but it does seem to surface occasionally, especially lately.

I can't help but think the same thing about him wearing down... the abundantly optimistic side of me wants to believe that he is laying low, knowing that there are big things about to unfold, such as investigations connecting Nobama to scandal associated with Freddie/Fannie, or something else... that's about all the optimism I can muster based on his recent behavior. If there is no smoking gun or perfect end game strategy that we're going to see burst open, we may just be seeing a slow painful death of a campaign and candidate unfolding before our eyes. Criticize the polling sampling data all you want... IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID! and McCain is getting his clock cleaned in the arena of public perception.

My wife, who hates Obama and Biden, keeps saying they are going to win. Regardless of polls, Sarah, information getting to the people, ASSama is going to carry the day. And she is not a gloom and doomer, she just recognizes that most people are in love with what ASSama keeps saying and don’t care if it is lies. They want it and will put him in to get it.

I am beginning to think she is right.

McCain is trying to be Presidential and knows that if the Dow drops to 8,000 his chances of getting elected are slim. He has not lost a damn thing yet.

IMO his actions on this bailout have been wrong-headed and tone-deaf, pretty much from the beginning up through now. He started off OK, suspending his campaign and getting his butt to Washington to do his job... but it all went downhill from there.

But I haven’t seen a shred of evidence that he’s beholden to “big finance”. I think he’s just committing a big blunder.

(BTW I *support* McCain and am planning on voting for him, if anyone wonders.)

Luckily Obama is another ineffective Senator, and not a outsider Governor.

The parts that bothered me were that Mac said he was on the phone with W that morning and would push to get the bill passed. This will just let Barry push the Bush 3 slogan more. Also, when the Friends asked if he didn't care that thousands of Americans hated the bill--he said that he would do what was right. He gave the example of Americans wanting out of Iraq and he pushed for the surge.

On a positive note, he spoke about credit and Americans needing a car loan or to buy a house and why this bill was necessary for that. Earlier Jack Welch was on and spoke about the same thing. I am not an expert on finance by any means, but at least it was something I could grasp. Larry Sabato was on after W spoke this morning and said W's speech was MUCH better because he explained the bill, which wasn't done before. Larry did say that if the economy is tanking, it will help Barry win. Mac did hint at the Fannie/Freddie culprits but did not go further. Could it be that he's saving it?

I have been SUPER positive throughout this election but admit we all go through our "it's over" moments. Rush told us yesterday to BUCK UP...he's right.



RUSH:...This is about Democrats trying to steal the country, and they'll deal with the fallout later. But as is the case in a lot of elections, I think everybody gets caught up in what the Drive-Bys report, everybody gets caught up in the polling data. Like today, all of the tracking polls have Obama up six, some up eight. It's being attributed to the debate. It's being attributed to the economic crisis. I don't see any serious polling of just how angry people are all over this country about this. You know my big desire is? I want to see on the morning after November 5th, I want to see the media so shocked that some of them are thinking about jumping out the windows of skyscrapers, not Wall Street people. I want to see the Democrats so shocked that the Democrat National Committee has to be guarded by psychiatrists to make sure the people inside do not go insane and have to be sent to an asylum. I want to see such a landslide.

I hope you are right about the politics of the matter with McCain’s potential electability.

But you must confess that he has seemed half-asleep since the debate. His performance in Des Moines yesterday was HORRIBLE.
