Good morning, Undead! Happy Tuesday!
G’mmph ...
You probably have a monster hangover or something, but you’re just acting all perky to get on our nerves, right?
At least here I have Internet access...
Nope, I’m feeling surprisingly well this morning, considering the cold.
You are more than welcome!
If DC recommends you, you’re OK with the rest of us. I think. Maybe.
:oþ
You should probably be warned about some things, though: The moat is “relatively” safe, but you should watch for pleiseosaurs; DC has dwarves to help him in the forges on one of the Lower Levels, and they sometimes get out of hand; Darksheare is in charge of the Zombies in the levels below the forges, and the Dust Bunnies usually keep them in line. Once in a while, though, the Zombies get loose and cause some real problems. Darks had to put on extra Dust Bunnies this week...
There is an observatory, but it’s pretty close to sionnsar’s Pipe Walk, where he practices, so you may want to wear some heavy-duty ear plugs if you’re looking at the stars the same time as he is skirling. Unless you’re into masochism...
Outside of that, you’re on your own. Oh. Wait. I forgot. IF you want to tour the castle and grounds, be sure you take someone who knows his way around. In the Lower Levels, the walls and doors have tendency to “shift” when least expected, so a map is not much help. You need a guide who knows all the passwords and anti-shift spells.
The bars and kitchens are open 24/7, as are the gyms.
Welcome!
That’s close!
Happy Tuesday to you, too!
I just realized that Friday the 13th fell on Monday this month. Go figger.
55 degrees.
That was a while back. Today is the 28th! We have to go to Wal-mart. After lunch, I guess; it was too cold earlier.
She’s got a few kids to make her act perky. I suspect it’s more on the order of impending hysteria.
A cup of good coffee should calm you down a little, TC.
I had two cups of coffee, eggs with onion, and a lime-flavored fizzy-water. Now I’m looking forward to lunch.
Got any 8’s?
I have to go do a few errands today and want to do them early before all the blue hairs come out to forget what they were going to do.
LOL! My mother says something like that, too.
You have to be going a certain speed to "miss" Venus' horizon and stay in orbit. This isn't because of how fast Venus is rotating, but because of how much it "weighs". If you are going less than this speed, then you need some kind of thrust to counteract Venus' gravity. The Skyhook only works because it anchors a mass in ORBIT at orbital velocities.
If you are anchored to something in orbit cooking along at Mach 72, you will be getting dragged through the atmosphere at a decent percentage of that.
If you want to "float" along on the winds, you'll need to be running the motors on the Thrust ring almost constantly. Either that, or put your anchor mass BEYOND the LeGrange point so that it's outward inertia counteracts Venus' gravity well.
While pressure and temps at 50km from surface may be "comfy" for us human types, it'll still smell like rotted eggs.
Point of interest, at one point, Venus' rising in the morning was considered the "Morning Star". Also called, Lucifer...
What I have found to be one of the greatest lies used by businesses of all time.
“One size fits ALL”
Stupid socks.
I would never consider buying socks with that label. The J. Peterman Company used to have sizes such as, “One size fits most average adult women.”
I buy No Nonsense socks. They have a wonderful thick-padded sole, and hold up extremely well.
I just don’t know if they sell men’s socks...
It’s getting to be the time of year when socks are very important. I just bought new slippers at Wal-mart, too.
I buy a pack of 10 socks about once a year, even though I really don’t need them.
I also like to buy holiday socks, but I haven’t seen any at Wal-Mart, yet. Usually they show up in August for Halloween, then I get the Christmas and Thanksgiving ones, and of course, Valentine’s Day.
I have yet to see many red, white and blue, though.
As for slippers, I usually buy the sock-type. I have a tendency to walk out of regular slippers and not even realize it. :o[

My new slippers come above the ankles.
