I would love to be on the ping list, although I think I already am!
After Proposition 187 was passed CA in the early 90s (I believe), I was a court reporter in criminal court. I checked my .9 millimeter in with the sheriffs, then went into court. Picked it up on the way out. And I didn’t have a license to carry. There were riots in the city in which I worked. Sheriffs, CHP, LAPD and the El Monte police knew I carried to and from work. They expected it from me.
After Prop 187 was overturned, I just carried mace in the days when you had to take a full eight-hour class to carry mace.
A pro tem sheriff was in my court one day and said I couldn’t carry the mace on my belt. Judge overruled him. Heck the judge had a Glock in his desk drawer on the bench. Our normal sheriff had trained us all on what to do when the “warriors” were coming.
That regular sheriff of mine forced me to learn the gun while waiting my five days. I learned to take the whole thing apart, including the magazine, blindfolded. I did it.
Never shot anything but clay pigeons and targets in my life. But you better not break down my door or you’re dead. I don’t even open the front door to anyone unless I’m expecting them.
So I guess I’m sort of a sheepdog.
Good job on the thread...
I’m sure it will grow and thrive as time marches on.
