86 here, and very humid. There’s a tornado warning about 75 miles to our west, but it’s moving South and won’t hit us.

I love boats. My Uncle taught me to sail a little fiberglass sunfish type at Groton Lake (CT) before I could even swim(very well). He loved blow boats.

Me, I love any boat, and I love the water. But I live in a landlocked city out here in flyover country. I don't get to enjoy the water as much as I'd like to.

BTW: You should add that pic to your profile page. It really is a beautiful shot. I hope he blew it up and framed it for display.

75 here, relatively dry (for this area). Sitting at my favorite writing location, on the back deck under the canopy, laptop ruinning, looking into the woods and...

...my muse has not arrived.

I am not amused. Or am I? If I am without a muse I am a-mused.

Magazine article due a week from tomorrow.

Of course you know that I am ready to start expostulating at the slightest invitation.

Would it help if I knew what the subject was?

I would suggest you begin your presentation with an out of this world idea!

Really.

Pitch the idea that your purpose is to describe for the committees the notion of preparing a description for an alien production facility to manufacture ... um, pogo sticks, solar panels, “D” cells for flashlights, shoelaces (with aglets), can openers, manual eggbeaters, clothespins, and shoehorns.

Better be sure your descriptions are specific and properly documented, or the Arcturans may decide to “litigate”.

LOL -- that might actually work!

Even though it's got nothing to do with what I pitched to the magazine. But they do want pictures...

shoelaces (with aglets)

Shoelaces with little Texas Aggies on them?

"shoelaces (with aglets)

What a wealth of information you have available in me! Where else would you learn what the tips of shoelaces are called?

Hint: Perhaps at Google, where I learned it before posting.

It's the height of Madison Avenue technique; give them a lot of hype about interstellar aliens, and then show them pictures of pogo sticks, solar panels, “D” cells, shoelaces, can openers, eggbeaters, clothespins, and shoehorns.

It would be rather a challenge to describe those things so the aliens could manufacture them, eh?

I knew that actually, tucked away somewhere in the dim recesses of my rarely used or visited brains.

Once you've taught the aliens our system of mechanical drawings, bills of material, process flows and Six-Sigma processes... no problem!

They won't want to manufacture them.

Humidity has been bad all day, but it didn’t rain. Maybe tomorrow.

I’m reading a Clive Cussler novel, recommended by ‘Face and nina, and I may not go to sleep until I’m finished. Zipping right along, it is, but there are a lot of pages. Do we have any more wine? Pretzels?

You've got a lot to learn about marketing, boy.

When you find out what they don't want to manufacture, then you know what you can sell them!

No proper Arcturan would want to slither out in public without his smily faced lapel clothespin.

"Do we have any more wine? Pretzels?"

Plenty of the rather pedestrian wines, I must confess. It's the really premium wines, with their personal touch quality emphasis, that is in alarmingly short supply.

And pretzels are available too. I recommend the triple twist variety said to commemorate the triple Habitats of the Flying Castle. They're available in Habitat B, near the beer promenade.

Pedestrian wines will do in a pinch. I’ll send Pat for some pretzels; it’s a short flit for him, right across vacuum.
