That actually makes it worse. I tried it when I first got the chair (freebie) and it just about killed my kidneys, not to mention my spine.
I can sit here for a few hours at a time, then have to get up and go find something less painful to sit in.
So I’m just going to make sure I have Motrin handy and give it hell till I’m finished with it..

If it was in Word, one thing that happens to me once in a long while is I’ll hit Ctrl-A Ctrl-D... and it’s gone. (Unless you hit Ctrl-Z to restore it.)

It was in Word. I did everything I knew to restore it, as well as buy a recovery program that I couldn’t afford. Zilch.
I DID print out the first seven chapters before I ran out of ink, but that doesn’t do me much good. I’ll either have to scan them (60 pages) or just start all over again and print as I go for a hard copy. Which is probably what I’ll do, in addition to saving it in several places. Like, maybe, emailing it to me.
*sigh*

Rule of Life #3: There are no mistakes, only lessons.
Rule of Life #4: Lessons are repeated until they are learned.
I suspect Rule #4 will not be repeated in this case!
I have definitely learned!

Well, I made a mistake while setting up the filesystem when installing Kubuntu on this machine. My home user directory has 18 Gigs of stuff (mostly photos) I don't want to lose -- but I didn't partition it into its own filesystem, so a new install of Kubuntu Linux will wipe it out. It looks like my only workable route is to either back it up onto the MP3 player or haul the house server machine (with its 250G drive) up from the basement so I can backup at 100 Mbps instead of 11 Mbps.
I've learned a lesson.

LOL!
Which brings to mind a query: Although my system analysis says I have lots of space left on my hard drive, should I put all my photos onto a CD? I don’t anticipate a crash, but there is some funny stuff there (from FR) that I don’t think I want to lose.
And should I do the same with my documents? (I’m sorry...I’m just having a tough time trying to THINK lately!)
Should I put it all on the flash drive, as well?
(I’m so conFUSED!)

Evening! Been busy all day here. One of the gerbils died - Jimmie, the brown one. Probably old age. Becky is confused.

I don’t know how you can put up with so much tragedy in your life.
Amputations, deaths ... My goodness! It’s almost as bad as being afflicted with TV!

Burn your photos and documents onto a CD. Repeat periodically. Keep more than one copy, and check them periodically.
Sorry to be late getting back, but life here has been anything but normal.

Thanks. I’ll do that.
Query: Do I have to format the CD in order to burn photos to it?

Ummm... I don’t think so. You may be given an option to “keep it open” for later additions, or to finalize it now. I always finalize it.
