They had a wildlife person on the news out of Denver last night saying that the bears can’t get enough food because it’s still too freakin’ COLD in the mountains. It was snowing in the mountains here last night up in the passes. Is it against the law to say that I’d like to take AlGore and chain his fat a** to one of our beetle infested pine trees for a week and then let him write a report on global warming?

I was walking my dog last year (upper mid west urban) and we walked down a path in a small wooded area. I looked to my right and three feet away was a very large black bear sitting on her haunches just looking at us.

I was afraid the dog was going to go nuts, there's no way he could not have know it was there because I could smell her and I have a terrible sense of smell. But, my dog just started walking a little faster and we strolled on by. Boosted my opinion of my dog's intelligence after that one.

Oh. It appears that your good post spawned a Disney Channel viewers thread, George. ;-)

I would gladly have all of our bear shipped to eastern and coastal cities, so that our occasional visitors could eventually learn and enjoy their true nature.

Liberal PETA nuts have taken over the DOW.

Their next agenda is to kick us out of our homes.

Never thought about a Disney Channel thread.

...agreed on liberal PETA nuts.

I’m on to something here regarding keeping bear out now: electric fences with at least four strands, minimum 3,000 volts, maybe minimum 1 joule (only one anecdote, need to check studies on the joule thing). Check for more than adequate distances from power lines (will arc from electric fence to power line under certain conditions). I’ll report back later.

I wonder if they would follow a Taco wagon? You know, kind of like a Pied Piper thing.

It is not illegal to chain him to a beetle infested tree, if you promise to set the woods on fire.
