Whenever that happens to me that something goes so quickly, I suspect a muse had helped me. Do you know your muse?

51% humididy is great for this time of year, here anyway.

Dr. said if our humidity now may be an indicator of summer to come. We’re doomed!

Yes, at least I think I know her.

She is a part of me who moves in mysterious ways.
Often times, I am, too easily distracted, then she will flee for a time. She is active in Summer months. Music is a great inducer for her to become active and seductive, reading another bards work is also good for her.

Often times, I will read my own work and the spark will zing, then we write.

Well said. Mine’s a mytery. I know he’s there, or she, but he often only shows up when I get completely frustrated and then saves the day.

My muse seems to have been with me from a very young age. I always was a day dreamer, looked for patterns in the clouds, etc. I loved the solitude of the clearing in the woods, my secret place. I was filled with imagination.

I never got to know her until after the children were grown, it takes a lot of energy raising children and working out of the home at the same time. All one’s resources are spent just living day to day.

Daydreaming always got me in trouble at school. Out of school I was in the woods, too. Usually with a gang o kids having magical adventures. I’d like to think that Gramps is my muse and sometimes think there maybe more than one.

I seem to be spending most of my mental time in 16th century Japan lately...the fictional and real...LOL. I looked up the spelling for Knitting in Japanese the other day...keami...it’s spelled with two kanji (chinese style characters) and a regular character. The middle one, which is the “core” meaning in this case, means things like knitting, twisting, braiding and compilation, editing, completed written work, completed poem... I always used the Knitting thing as a pun, referring to the twising of words as well as yarn...but it’s even more meaningful in Japanese...LOL. Couldn’t have done that on so well on purpose if I wanted to.

No wonder my mind is finding a strange creative home there...

And the Dragonflies’ Lair threads are one place I always feel at home, no matter how crazy it gets....I just don’t always have something to offer.

And the fiction writing’s going well. I’ve won a number of awards in the fanfiction community for one of my pieces. Somehow or other, I’ve turned into someone that can write romance, historical fiction and mystery. Never knew that I had that in me.

Sometimes, we need the break to be creative. It’s really been good for my mental health.

Knitting,

the human mind is more creative then many believe. Sadly too few ever try to see what their capable of! I’d like to read your stories, how do I go about that?

I think the 16th century Japan is very good to you and for you. Your muse has led you into a superb place to create.

We are grateful for the lovely work you post. I do know how it is to feel empty with nothing to post.

Thank you, for the most kind words regarding The Lair, it means so much to we poets living here.

We have our moments of crazy in here, it works well with the long times of silence. ;0)

I have not ventured into the land of long fiction writing, I am wondering if I should. Sometimes, I think I cut my work off, too early, too abrupt, that there is more in there -somehow I will not allow myself to go there. Maybe a test for me to overcome. We shall see.

ps the Ballade is already in the Anthology, may I post The Foxes?

There you are author of prose and poetry. Dare I venture beyond my own limits to write a short story, I have to focus and I have trouble doing that.

try a short story, something you know about, and have fun with it. Its possible, (Hey if I can do it, so can you!) You write it and Knitting and I can look it over and give you tips, tricks, and suggestions. When its done, its yours, and you will find it was fun (at times) and worthy. The worst you can do is succeed and then others expect you do it again, and even better! ;^)

Easy enough:

http://www.mediaminer.org/fanfic/src.php/u/Knittingknots

(this is almost all fanfic, but has the cleanest copies of my (still not complete) longer stories, Evil in Men’s Hearts and After the End (ATE is the one winning more of the awards, EIMH is more complete)

http://knittingknots.deviantart.com/gallery/
has pretty much everything I’ve been writing for the last year or so, fanfic or not. The site’s not as easy to read chapter works, but it’s my most complete archive.

Sure, post away.

I’ve spent a lot of this year gaining confidence about writing prose...the fan fiction has been a good place to stretch my wings and build confidence, and taught me something about working on extended projects. It’s been a great learning experience, and now I hang out with a bunch of people who write regularly, so it’s comfy to think more like a person who writes, who understands how it can drive you crazy.
