Man, I’m glad I read through the thread. I was almost ready to switch from Hillary to Huckabee!
It is sad. It is. There is some black humor in the parody, but obviously it is meant to make us think.
We have had many people in the Presidency but sometimes those who want it the most desperately do for very wrong reasons. Anyone with as many scary details about his behavior as Mike Huckabee should be viewed as suspect, even if he is a member of one’s own religion.
Love your song! Of course I agree; I’m living La Vida Loca here in SoCal with all the illegals. “Thanks, John!” (He said three times at the debate that he knew how to fix the borders. Um... He’s been in the Senate a long time; why hasn’t he done it yet?? [crickets]
Holy heck at the comments on that thread! So many people (Freepers!) think that the senseless torture and killing of a poor stray dog is a NOTHING OFFENSE in his son’s past and is meaningless? That really hurts me as an animal lover.
Everyone knows that the worst serial killers and sociopaths often got their start torturing and killing small animals. At 17, this Huckabee was old enough to know what he was doing. It says a LOT about this person’s character that he found hurting a helpless animal AMUSING.
Of course, I cannot say that everything one’s child does reflects on the parent. That is not true. What his son did should not necessarily affect Huckabee’s quest for the White House. However, trying to cover it up, and firing the head of the AK State Police because he would not grant Huck’s request to cover up the crime, should be considered part of Huckabee’s record as governor and thus fair game to disqualify him from further office on questionable ethics.
What crime committed by his warped son would he choose to cover up as President?
Ugh. The Snopes story is worse than I thought. Not only did he hang and torture the poor puppy but he slit its throat as well?
That son has serious mental problems.
I think it is SICK that Huckabee went on Larry King and said that the dog was “mangy” and “about to attack.” So he covers up for cruel behavior in his son, and lets thousands of dangerous criminals run free, and he wants to be our President?
I wouldn’t let him be my latex salesman (Seinfeld reference)!
Read this, honey! You’ll get a kick out of this.
As for trying to cover up the killing of the dog, I do indeed believe Daddy Huckabee did try to do it. If he would do that what else is his covering up about his son? Or other issues?
Then we have the pardon issues. That is just too much for me. He is not getting my vote.
My other BIG issue is the fact he gave up his calling to be in politics. For some reason I find that disturbing. Why would a "man of the cloth" want to give up his calling to be in politics?
If your son were arrested for killing a dog, why would you pose for a portrait with your wife apparently choking the dog and you, yourself, yanking on the dog's front leg to keep him in the photo?
I never quite understood how Huckabee was a man of the cloth. Didn't he lie about his university degree? Is there a kind of license or ordination that he actually received to become a preacher or minister? I really don't know exactly what his religious title would be.
I found this
The former Arkansas governor and ordained Baptist minister speaks the language of Christian Evangelicals on social issues, but his concern for the poor means he's willing to spend more than fiscal conservatives would like.
Hmm I am disliking him more & more! That picture is not very becoming to any of those Huckabee's either.
That’s right - why hasn’t he fixed it yet? Because he never plans on fixing it.
Check out www.hughhewitt.com to find out what McCain and Lieberman have up their sleeves to cause our energy costs to go through the roof! (even more)
Never met him..........
If you think that post was pimping the Huckster, you suffer from SEVERE Irony Deficiency and should see a doctor immediately.
I suggest you reread.
Hank
Uh oh... Doris Ziffle is gonna be ticked. She's had her eye on that swampland (Arnold really needs a place of his own, y'know).
Ah well, at least Huck didn't rope you into buying a stake in the monkey-racing track.
Thanks for posting that link, Hank. I've got to forward it to my cousin for discussion... it once came up in conversation that some distant relative grew up with Tom in Laurel, MS. Or maybe went to college with him in Oxford... can't recall which.
As bad as the act itself was the obvious abuse of power to suppress a legitimate police investigation. I'm that Mike's ardent admirers will continue to spin that incident as unimportant or a "desperate attack" on their candidate, but very few of them will see that this is the sort of ammunition that makes the Democrats salivate.
If a Republican rival brings it up, the media will minimize the story. If Huckabee gets the nomination, the Dems will give their pals in the MSM the nod... and the story will land on Huck's head like an anvil.
If the dog story sees the light of day, there is absolutely NOTHING Huck can say about it. NOTHING. If he tries to trivialize it, he is trivializing cruelty to animals. If he tries to defend his son, same thing. The only thing he can really say about it is that it’s in the past and healing has been done. However, how can he defend his covering up his son’s crime? It’s not even CHRISTIAN to do that.
Mike Huccubus will suck the life out of you.
