You aren’t going to get me to trash talk Page, I’m just saying. :)
I never had the love for Hendricks either, even if I am left handed.
Clapton was great. - As far as I see, they were giants compared to the music of today - I’m not calling the average product that struts the MTV stage “musicians,” - but that might just be me.
Thanks for the thread - bill

Sloppy, erratic - Ill be honest I dont hear it. Is he any more sloppy than say, Hendrix? I hear Page doing the guitar equivalent of the Jerry Lee Lewis sweeping the piano keyboard. I hear Page taking chances and getting creative. But I dont hear wrong notes or clams and I dont hear missed entrances or beats. I think at one point Page himself used the word sloppy and its become something that people toss around. OK, maybe put up against Clapton, you dont hear the same precision or note for note elegance - and maybe (maybe) Clapton at his very best beats Page at his very best (or not) - but night in night out, album in album out, Page is a force. And not just as a soloist either, but as a producer, studio genius and band leader. You are getting WAY too defensive about this by trying to argue with me about MY opinion. His solo in Heartbreaker is what sticks with me as some real sloppy work. It sounds like a bad demo tape. And yes, I'd say Jimi was sloppy too. But if you want a real good analogy to Jerry Lee Lewis swiping the piano keys, I'd use Pete Townsend.

Page has said he hates the solo on record for Heartbreaker. Of course I think his main complaint is how you can tell that it was not recorded at the same time or place as the rest of the song.

Rock and Roll has soooo lost its magic. At 49, I could not name one song on the top 10 pop charts today, nor the group that plays them. You got that right. Curiosly though, my kids are into Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Ted Nugent, etc.

Excellent! Looking forward to hearing/seeing it sometime soon.
I’ve heard nothing but positive reviews.

I can’t complain about that lineup of songs.
I’ve heard “Good times bad times” and it sounded great. Jason’s drumming was almost as powerful as his dad’s.
Plant’s vocals were surprisingly good.
Page sounded good too, but I need to hear it again for further criticism.

What was strange about that one, at the time it was only issued as the flip side of “Immigrant Song” on 45. My brother had it on Atlantic. On the original issues, the lead out groove space has “Do what thou wilt, shalt be the whole of the law” or somesuch, a nod to Pages’ philosophies, I guess. Hm.

Saw Good Times Bad Times on Youtube - terrible video quality but you can just feel the excitement as the band comes out and it’s the 70’s all over again!

Can’t wait to hear the entire show. Strange that no recordings have yet to appear in the usual places.

Let's see if the old bands can sell new albums and not just nostalgia. Dylan can do it. So can the Who. It isn't a hypothetical challenge. Carlos Santana is doing great stuff, too.
