Was 'TWA FLIGHT 800' [1996, where 230 Americans were killed] an ISLAMIC TERROR attack?

That was a different plane, but nearly the same time. There was also a swiss-air plane in the same area, where every life was lost. 3 planes, same area and about the same time. I think they actually all left the same airport if I’m not mistaken.

That plane, If I remember correctly, was loaded with Egyptian military officers that had been in the US, learning anti terror tactics to fight their islamists back home. TWA, Egypt Air, and Swiss’Air dc10, all three down within months, every person died. And as I mentioned earlier, think they even left the same exact airport.

Thanks, I read that. I remember back in those days, how frustrating it was, that all those plane crashes, and the stories about them, never even considered, debated the possibility of terror. Even though the cole had been bombed, the embassy bombings, and a long list of other terrorist attacks back then. They all just looked the other way...

If I recall correctly, EgyptAir 990 was carrying several Egyptian AF pilots that had received training in the US. Just bringing this up because I doubt whether the Clinton administration had any concerns in training fornats in counter terrorism.

See post 24, think we recall the same thing. In light of 9/11 it seems crazy not to reinvestigate these 3 plane wrecks.
To: phrogphlyer
If I recall correctly, that was a Middle Eastern airline with an Egyptian pilot who decided to put it into the Atlantic shortly after departure from NYC. In hindsight, it's surprising that the pilot didn't turn the plane around and head towards a Manhattan skyscraper, but perhaps the copilot fought him. Not sure if the complete translation of the black box recording was released to the public.
Then there was the 9/11/2000 incident in Florida which I'm convinced was a covered up terrorist incident by the same cell that hit exactly one year later. I think the ID of that pilot was found in the car of one of the 9/11 hijackers in Boston after the 2001 attacks.

I don’t recall the Florida incident. Do you have any links to additional info?

Thanks, interesting read. Haven’t finished it, but it sounds more like a training accident than a deliberate attack. I don’t doubt the guy in the Cherokee was part of the plot, but it’s hard to hit a twin in something like that.

I believe it was show of loyalty by the cell to impress financiers. The 9/11 commission documents showed that the cell received a huge amount of dollars by wire just days after this attack.
Before anyone knew the identity of the plane crash victims, 10 Muslims were at the scene of the crash, deep inside an orange grove, praying over Bukhari’s wreckage. This wasn’t even in the neighborhood where they lived, they traveled there to watch the crash happen.
It was covered up because the public would refuse to fly if they knew Muslims were deliberately crashing planes into other planes. There would be public demands that would lead to profiling and grounding of small aircraft. That is my take on it and I’ve given it a lot of thought and investigation.

True....and it probably has been investigated thoroughly with whatever documentation remained in the archives of the previous administration. Intelligence gleaned was suppressed by Foggy Bottom's politically politeness for presidential actions, inactions....and incompetence.
Al Q'aeda bluntly stated 'We will use their laws against them' as their method. Take this a bit deeper and we find that the terrorists use our freedom to travel, to congregate and to speak, in their attacks on the touchstones of our way of life. While Al Q'aeda is being defeated on the battle field, their damage to us is still real domestically.

Do you think they ever expected us to fight back, in Afghanistan and Iraq? Wonder what Gore would have done?

Wonder what Gore would have done?
Nothing......after all Carter won the the Nobel Peace Prize for our thirty year ordeal with terrorism while doing nothing. Gore found a way to win the prize with a short movie and campaign against nature.
What do they care about the rest of us?

I think Gore has stated that he would have waged war on Afghanistan, but not Iraq. Of course, who knows, and maybe his idea of war is like Clinton’s, some cruise missiles and call it good.
To: Professional
Moot.
Perhaps he would have sued for damages. Case pending......

I don't buy the gov't's explanation. IIRC, more than 200 folks on and off Long Island, NY saw the exhaust from a surface to air missile make the interception.
