If you really want to be adventurous, try running Vista on your Mac. :O)

Yes I have purchased from them before and been satisfied.
What I am looking for is advise on the brand of memory to buy (as well as where to buy).

I like Kingston. Have you actually used it in a Mac?

Factory certified RAM is always the most expensive. However, most manufacturers will allow the use of Kingston RAM in their systems without voiding the warranty. Kingston tends to be quite a bit less expensive than factory certified RAM, but it's still more expensive than many after-market brands. However, I believe that Kingston also has a less expensive line, I think called "ValueRam." The place I used to work also had good results with a RAM company called "Golden Ram."
Where I work, we're in the process of upgrading our 7 database servers from 8GB to 32GB of RAM each (HP DL-385 Dual Opteron), and our 60 Terminal Services servers from 2GB to 4GB each, all using Kingston RAM.

Nope, but I know a few folks who have Mac’s who swear by it too. I didn’t even know up until that point that it even worked in Mac’s.

Any idea if it is worth it to buy the Error Checking memory?

Crucial is definitely worth a look. Personal experience: 1GB module for a 2.1 GHz iMac G5.

I haven’t for a Mac. Crucial is a preferred supplier for OEM Apple product though.

I had a machine with ECC memory once.
It logged every memory fixup so you could review them.
In the three years I ran that machine it fixed two dropped bits.
So the answer depends on what a crash costs you. I don't run ECC memory on workstations. Based on price nobody else seems to ether.
Being a Mac user ECC might help you preserve some smugness, so it might be worth it to you.

I am a new Mac user (not by choice). My stepson flunked out of art school so I reclaimed the Mac which I bought for him.
The difference between ECC and Non-ECC Kingston memory is only abut $100 for 4G so I thought it was worth considering.

I’m marking this thread for myself and dear wife, who wants to bump up her G4 to 1Gb before Christmas.
But I will add that 4GB (one stick) is a bleeding-edge amount of memory, and can be expected to be very expensive.
