Mine as well. Possibly because Niven is a writer of books, whereas Roddenberry and Lucas were writing for TV shows and movies.
Now that the state of the art has advanced, it may be time to show us the Ringworld.
Another great series, à la "The Twilight Zone" could be formed around the "Man-Kzin Wars" series.
Do keep in mind, though, that the Known Space Universe and the Star Trek Universe have had at least one crossing point: In the animated Star Trek series episode, "Slaver Weapon", the story line was lifted directly from the Niven tale of the same title. Spock played the part of the Pierson's Puppeteer.
After forty years, I’.. be getting of the Trek train for a while. This is not acceptable.
What saddens me is that fandom is not outraged at all.
It is really watered down now into accepting all kinds of crap.
Sad.
Remakes, bad sequals rule.
New original stuff?
Forget about it.
There are harddly any new original works made anymore to be tomorrows classics.
If they can get good DVD sales upon first release then that is classic enough for Hollywood, that is as far as their vision is now.
There will be no more Bladerunners anymore that is clear.
Take a look at Serenity.
