Re: I was born and raised in Texas, and like any God-fearing Southern Baptist I can't stand that Arkansas goober, Jerry Jones, that had the gall to fire Tom Landry without even telling him! If YOU were a Texan, you'd know that meant.

First, it is a joke... son!

Gadzooks, X! This... is getting damned old, my Native-Texan friend! My maternal, 2nd generation Native-Texan Grandfather was that way about D.X. Bible leaving Texas A&M for the University of Texas back before the Depression. Swore he'd never go to College Station every again!

That lasted until A&M won the National Championship in 1939!

{BTW more than half my family are Aggies with one exception, my cuz Larry who was a... Oh My God!... a Teasip and made a zillion dollars on small town newspapers, but that is for another thread...}

One of my closest friends is just like you about Jerry Jones firing Landry. We agree to disagree and have a grand old time fishing for trout in Colorado or whatnot without cutting each other's throat!

Tom, God love him and I always will, but it was time for him to go... And all this happened a Blue Moon ago. Let it go!

Jerry, never my favorite owner (My heart always goes to Clint!) but he has grown on me, has given his heart and soul for the Cowboys. He got us three Super Bowl wins with another native Texan coach (Jimmy Johnson [He wanted to go fish in Floria!] who could have won 4 or 5 in a row had he stomached Jerry and stayed!) and that is one more than Tom won!

And he has us with another native Texan coach, Wade Phillips, with a cast of players that have a chance to win a 6th and maybe a 7th or 8th Lombardi Trophy!

So, go ahead and keep you silly feud going! I'll be enjoying the Cowboys while you fidget and fume!

And the beer & steaks... does taste better when the 'Boys win!

We will see what New England can do without cheating.

Well, given that the guy filming was caught and dis-camera-ed halfway through the first quarter...I think you saw it last week against the Jets. That is unless Mangini, believing that the Pats were stealing his signals didn't change them from last year, and still couldn't come up with a defense.

BTW, the penalty has been announced: $500k fine to Bellichick; 250k fine to the team, and loss of first rounder if they go to the playoffs, and a second and third rounder if they don't.

Why do you think they thought they had to cheat when they have so much talent?

Finally, Allegra will drink up all the booze in Baghdad as the Texans defeat the Panthers to go 2-0!

If the Texans opened the season at 2-0, I would need the medics to restore my consciousness. :-)

Now, Bender IS a Texan and a true-blue one.

But so am I, and I am no fan of the Callous Doughboys.

So...you like the Houston Texans? ;-)

Never fear, my sweet... I shall be right at your side, holding your dainty hand, keeping a cold compress on your forehead, the tequila properly opened to breath and the beer iced to perfection!

Now, just because xJone took aim at my Sainted Cowboys... is no reason...

For you to go and make me... crazy jealous!

Redskins cheerleaders

The Redskins cheerleaders make their Dallas counterparts look so, like, early 1980s.

Basically, This Item Exists as an Excuse to Run the Photo: Back-to-back summer-weather nationally televised games hosted by Washington and Dallas confirmed beyond doubt what NFL observers have been thinking for several years -- the Redskins cheerleaders are now the league's hottest dance team, leaving the Cowboys cheerleaders in their aesthetic dust. Twenty years ago, the Cowboys' pep squad may have been the best-looking and best-dancing in the NFL. Now, it's not even close -- the Redskins cheerleaders are No. 1 in looks and in choreography. Here they are, and here's their warm-to-the-touch swimsuit calendar. At this point, the Broncos cheerleaders tie the Redskins cheerleaders in beauty and the Eagles cheerleaders tie them in choreography, but Washington finishes first overall, including for game-day professionalism. (Professionalism in the cheer context meaning skin, or at least skintight.) Obviously, this is a debate that should continue throughout the season.

This post is absolutely no good without photos!

Lots and lots... of photos!

Especially one... of you, Allegra, in a Cheerleader's uniform!

I'll even settle for a... Texan Cheerleader uniform...

Say, sweetheart, it is nearly 8PM in Baghdad... Stop working and meet me at the bar! All the beer you can drink and all cotton candy you can eat is on me! Now, you'll have to buy your own cigars...

I'm there! I'll pass on the cotton candy.

I'm off work now. Going to watch the bootleg DVD of the Simpsons movie with some friend here shortly.
