who caught the ball? they just said a maybe a mets fan! nice!!! lets go mets!
Well, congratulations to a Giants fan, but I can’t say the same to Bonds.
I heard an amazing stat -- Bonds has been intentionally walked 700 or so times in his career. Imagine how many HRs he'd have if that wasn't the case.
It’s at about the same level of proof as OJ’s murder of two people. Meaning: It’s obvious to anyone with a brain that he did it, but I’m sure you could get a good lawyer to convince 12 morons that he didn’t.
Just playing around on sternestmeanings.com:
Barry Bonds, home run hero = Hurrah! Snobbery, or demon?
It seemed appropriate enough.
Congratulations Barry.
At least he remebered to thank the Washington National—”for understanding!?!?”
Somehow, I don’t think it’s only the NBA that is fixed.
Yes, and it showed. Arms raised triumphantly in the air, standing still, taking in all the glory. I recall the same thing happened when Hank Aaron surpassed Babe— oh wait, no it didn’t. Aaron swung the bat, began running toward first base, and THEN realized he had just become the new homerun champ. He never showed any display of a swollen head. Barry Bonds = pure arrogance.
The last 10 years for sluggers has been dirty.
So what?
Now we know it, let's move on folks. Nothing to see here....
OMG Doug seriously go for it dude LOL!
Wow
No doubt he is a jerk. Just a jerk that can hit a ball well. I grew up watching a class act who just went into the HOF; Cal Jr. NO comparison between the two. I would rather have Cal on my hometown team and as a teammate.
Barry ‘Better Life through Chemistry’ Bonds.
All ribbing aside, I do agree.
The sanctimonious media can gossip all they want.
And if Bud Selig has a problem—refund for tix purchases in ‘98.
Does this guy cheat?
Is he on roids?
Is there proof?
Or is it assumption?
Good post. I don't follow baseball, either. From what I have learned over the years, Bonds is a big time steroids user. He also uses some kind of elbow pad that increases the mechanical performance of his swing. He went on a home run tear well past the age of 30. Before his early 30s, he was an above average player, but certainly not "historic" in the ranks of Bath Ruth or Hank Aaron. If you look at his pictures the first few years of his career, his was a fairly skinny, tall, lanky guy. Then suddenly, he was a buff muscular stud and was hitting homers! This all happened very quickly, after his early 30s.
I don't know about you, but I'm in my mid 30s, and I certainly can't (or want) to do some of the things I did when I was in my 20s!
Correct me if I'm wrong, Freeper baseball gurus.
I agree 100%— and I used to HATE HATE HATE Cal Ripken, Jr. And Sr. The reason? I was just a stupid little kid who was loyal to my Milwaukee Brewers, whom Cal Ripken always seemed to have a knack for beating. Having grown up now, somewhat, I see that Cal was truly a class act.
If you were in the stands and caught #756, you'd gladly give it to Bonds, seeking zero compensation in return.
You must have eaten a lot of paint chips as a kid.
Just look at the shape of his head, before and after photos.
Barely recognizable.
Where’s the fence?!
