I think of all the dangerous untrained or badly trained potentally deadly pit bulls I see and where they live, and I'd bet money that they ALL belong to people who vote for Liberals or don't vote at all.
Likewise, most Liberals I know own SUVs; the first 4-wheel-drive real SUV I ever saw (other than one belonging to my conservative mountain-trekking brother who USES 4-w drive for real) belonged to a radical vegan Liberal in the city.
Emotion-driven conservatives perpetuate many stupid myths, among them that SUV owners = Republicans, and that Liberals = people who are tired of seeing innocent lives endangered and too often ended because of "macho" morons who deny they can't handle a particularly aggressive, powerful, and too often deadly breed of "pet."
Here's the truth whether you like it or not: politics doesn't have anything to do with pit bulls. You think breed-banning smacks of liberalism. I don't like breed-banning myself and would not support it. But that doesn't have anything to do with the fact that certain dogs bred to be aggressive and to kill critters (terriers, anyone?) that are also large and powerful (unlike Jack Russel terriers) are proven liabilities to innocents, from old ladies gardening in their own yards who are killed by a neighbor's pitbull, to livestock, to children. Only a fool would think that was okay, and since liberals are fools ... I tend to think anyone who blindly defends pit bull ownership under all circumstances, is himself as emotionally-driven and foolish as any liberal.
I love jazz, and know many conservative jazz fans. But I am not so limited as to then claim that anyone who dislikes jazz is a Liberal.
It’s late, but I although you could not actually glean anything from my previous post, I will say I am dead-set against “breed bans”.
They are ANIMALS; worse, they are a tiny subset of a certain animal. As such, many numbskulls and ninkumpoops have no idea what is really a “pit bull terrier” TYPE (it is not a breed), and what is something else. Never mind all the mutts that could have a bit in them, or a perfect blend so they might LOOK like a “pit bull”.
I’ll be damned if the police state takes away someone’s dog because the idiots think it looks like a PBT. It could be a Labrador, just like the lady on FR whose purebred sporting Lab was mistaken for a PBT.
I do not trust people’s judgement on what kind/breed of dog the neighbor has. Even my judgement is faulty, as I have mistaken some Belgian Malinois for German Shepherds.
Thus, I am absolutely against a ban.
