Prices have risen steadily all my life. It's human nature to try to increase your prices.

In 1995 a good quality T-shirt cost about $18; today you can't buy a good T-shirt at any price but the junk that you can buy costs about $23. They last about half as long, and are made by prison labor in Red China. The mills that used to produce the good shirts have been run out of business by the unfair competition of combined prison labor, and low quality textiles.

So yes, free trade with our morally repugnant enemies has driven prices up and quality down. Now we have to buy three times as many shirts, and pay more for them.
