Jabberwocky
by Lewis Carroll
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood a while in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One two! One two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Jabberwacky, or Dreaming After Falling Asleep While Watching TV
(Mad Magazine, circa 1961)
Twas Brillo and G.E. Stoves
Did Proctor-Gamble in the Glade
All Pillsbury were the Tasty Loaves
And in a Minute Maid
“Beware the Station Break, my son,
The voice that lulls, the ads that vex,
Beware the Doctor’s Claim and shun
That horror called Brand-X!”
He took his Q-Tip swab in hand,
Long time the Tension Headache fought,
So Dristan he by a Mercury,
And Bayer break’d in thought.
And as in Bufferin Gulf he stood,
The Station Break, with Rise of Tame,
Came Whisking through the Pride-hazed wood,
And Cream-Rinsed as it came!
“Buy one, buy two, we’re almost through!”
The Q-Tip Dash went Spic-and-Span,
He Tide Airwick, and with Bisquick,
Went Aero-Waxing Ban.
“And hast thou Dreft the Station Break?
Ajax the Breck, Excedrin boy,
Oh Fab wash day! Cashmere Bouquet!”
He Handi-wrapped with Joy.
Twas Brillo and G.E. Stoves
Did Proctor-Gamble in the Glade
All Pillsbury were the Tasty-Loaves
And in a Minute Maid.

Hello!!
LOL, this is hilarious, not to mention the memories of those endless commercials.
I remember one commercial for one of the laundry products where the washer in the basement crashing through the living room floor, I would just have fits every time that came on.
Late night movies were a boon for getting a break from kids, dogs and husbands. LOL

Just took the opportunity to step outside and damn near went blind because of the yellow thingy in the sky. The temps are moderate. Happy to hear that all is well.

Songs of Faith
Sing soft the songs of David
And hear them chorused by the wind
A music eternal and true
Do as the Master does us bid
For there our own poor eternity is pinned
Judged for what we do
Sing with an open heart
And let go the pain of the saddest day
Until you find yourself, free
For each is of the whole, a part
And so we are privileged, in a way
Our choice as it should be

"A thing of beauty is a joy forever Its loveliness increases; it will never Pass into nothingness;

Meg, I absolutely love Lobelia, it is very common in Finland planted with bright red Geraniums. Makes a stunning color statement. Beautiful frame, thank you.
