Both have their good points. I knew more people in Ohio, but at least in Florida there’s better weather(most of the time, not counting hurricanes)

When I was growing up, I always said “thang” instead of “thing.” It’s because some of my mother’s folks were from Tennesee, Kentucky, North and South Carolina. I can now “fit in” wherever necessary! WisCANsin and Minnesota are a little hard for me to do these days, but I can, if I think about it.
(I still say “thang” if I’m not feeling well.)
