It IS questionable in many areas, as after the ‘60s everything started going downhill. But, it was still alot less loony and more free then!
HAH! I rode miles and miles on bikes until I was maybe 14+. I rode right into a moving car right in front of my driveway (a steep hill - loved to get a head of steam!). Trying to avoid it and a coming mailbox I hit the car and fell off onto neighbor’s driveway. I broke my arm - that was it.
I had some other scrapes but that was the worst I ever had on a bike (I also had a minor concussion/blacked out from jumping from runaway horse). I NEVER wore any of these weenie things.
