Even better! Looks like three different incidents. I may have to re-ping everyone who showed interest in the original video. Fantastic, thanks.

Did you see the patrol boat knock all four crewmembers of that inflatable in the second-to-last sequence into the water? LOL

Southern California CHP car chases have nothing on Germany when the German Navy gives chase to Green Peace which was getting too close to the G8 Conference.

Click here to see the video.

Here is a video with more details.

Combat Boat CB 90 H

It's a jet boat! Let's go water-skiing!

The manueverability of the boat, which was built to

"transport 20 soldiers (half a platoon incl. equipment = 2.8 tons or the corresponding weight in mines) at 30 knots in reasonable comfort and safety even in adverse weather conditions and to be able to make forceful landings on enemy held beaches"

is most impressive.

Waterskiing? Okay, you ski and I'll drive. :D

It really does. One minute it was flying across the water, then it looked like it was stopping on a dime.

I'm trying to figure out how the Swedes built maneuverability like that into the boat, including being able to carry 20 soldiers, 2 tons of equipment, and to be able to make sudden beach assaults.

Aaaah, Combat Boat 90! I so want one of those.

They build these babies a 30-minute drive from where I live, and they're as impressive as they look on the videos. The top models (2200 hp) have a cruising speed of 45 knots and do 50+ flat-out. Boats build entirely for speed, like big RIB boats will of course overtake you, but they don't have twin 50-cal guns and can't support Hellfire missiles or a gyro-stabilized twin-barrel mortar turret ;)

But what's really cool is that you can go from 50+ knots to a full stop in 3 boat lengths. I've seen videos where the Swedish Costal Rangers do beach assaults, and they can almost (*cough* non-regulation speeds *cough*) unload 20 rangers with the boat still hidden from the enormous spray of water a crash-stop produces. Of course, the water jet system also provides great agility on open water and the design of the boat (0,8m draught, ducted water jets, and underwater control surfaces to compliment the rudder control) allows for high-speed turns that seem impossible for such a heavy (~18t) craft.

It's not a boat I'd like to sit in under enemy fire - since it's an all-aluminum construction even small arms slice through it. They've made a slightly safer model that can take 7,62mm Nato Ball rounds.

Be prepared to surrender at least a million dollars for the basic version, and 2.5+ million for the top models.

YouTube video with CB90's (Swedish, Norwegian and Brazilian boats), and another one. Only lame crash-stops though :)

That some of the best small boat handling at speed I’ve ever seen !

Greenpeace was bragging about their ‘crack’ boat handling teams...I guess they got sent to school by the Bundespolizei.

The one where the small rigid-inflatable hull runs over the top of the other regular inflatable appears to be an accident. I'm still chuckling over the one where the patrol boat knocks all the crewmembers of the target ship overboard. STRIKE!!!

In response to an earlier comment, it's clear that the patrol boat has directional nozzles.

Nothing like getting a German boat on your face to ruin your day. LOL!

I'm sure the Germans have a word for it: uberglaustgeschlossendammerung, or something.

As long as you’re angry when you say it, all German sounds the same.
